Here’s my fully customised build of the Rolife DG146 Flowery Sweets & Teas kit.
I’m not 100% sure I’m completely happy with it. Yellow is such a bold colour and not something I would usually go for. But I had a reference in mind (the bakery from Kiki’s Delivery Service), so I committed and stuck with it.
I also woke up this morning and decided I hated the original orange tile floor, so I spent a while replacing it with a new print out instead.
I’ve pretty much documented all my thoughts in my previous posts, but I’ve got a few minor comments.
I wanted to ditch the original yellow flowers because I don’t think they fit very well, but there’s absolutely no way I’m cutting petals from scratch, so they stayed.
I also initially didn’t want to leave the garden arbor bench (is that what it’s called?) green, but it looked like way too much work to paint, so I abandoned that plan too.
Yellow is a colour I struggle to work with.
This has overall been a really fun experience. It was my first time fully customising a kit and I learned a lot along the way. There was a lot of improvisation as I built, and in a way it forced me to think outside the box instead of following the instructions blindly like I usually do. I’ll probably customise more sets in the future but it’s definitely not something I could do for every kit.
Am I completely happy with it? Maybe not.
But am I proud of my efforts? Yes.

This looks fantastic! I love all the little totoro characters you place all over the place, THEY ARE SO CUTE!! I agree about they yellow, when I saw your first posts and saw you were painting it yellow, I was like “that’s not a colour you see everyday”, but I think it ended up working, and fitting in really well with your idea! Great work homie!!
Please be so fr right now it came out so pretty I love the colours you chose more than the bright pastel ones the original kit had it’s so beautiful I love it so much ︎
Thank you so much Nita! Colour choosing is not my strong suite so I’m happy you like the colours hahaha. I’ll definitely stick to safer colours next time.
Thank you for thinking so! I’m grateful for all the virtual support here! I hope you’ll give customising Soho time a go too! While not perfect, I’ve learnt a lot myself.
