📖 [Rolife Journey] “Alice’s Dreamy Bedroom” (Part 1)

This kit starts with these modern furniture pieces. They look deceptively simple.

Cutting and adhering the wood sheet was very time consuming. It was not my favorite activity.

A similar wood grain sheet is used to cover the blocks for the shelf. I am getting a lot of use out of my cutting board.

Here are the contents. Box was full to the top with a bunch of different materials. Even included batteries and glue in this kit.

Such a great start! Those pieces really do look simple at first glance, but you can already tell it’s going to be a lovely build!

Hahaha it’s definitely an old style kit but I think you did an amazing job because it looks really tidy and natural! :pink_heart:

If I were to rebuild it I think I would just paint.

Painting would have been way easier, honestly.

But I follow the directions like a blind lemming. These thoughts never occur to me beforehand.

I actually don’t mind using the wood grain paper! Just have to be really careful to cut it with the grain facing the right direction… I may have messed that up in the past!! :joy::joy::joy: Neat to see what’s in the kit before I take the dive and do it!! Great work so far!!

Yeah 100% I’m the same I basically followed the instructions when I made this. It’s only now that I’m following your progress I get an epiphany.

I wish I had more of the material. It is a good material. I still don’t prefer it for small furniture

So true.

Why do you think painting would have made this easier? I guess I am misunderstanding something here. Are the pieces not already pre-cut? Painting just adds another step…pre-cut or not.

The shelf was light colored wood blocks that are wrapped in a thin wood paper.

Blocks(top) Wood Paper (bottom)

I think it would have been easier to paint the shelf than to cover it in the dark wood sheet.

Painting would give a different result. But it would have been much easier than measuring, cutting and glueing all those sheets onto tiny blocks.

The bed frame also had a different color wood sheet. It was not as difficult as the tiny shelf.

Such a great start! I love how you’re showcasing the cutting and prep work, it really highlights the skill and patience that goes into these builds. Seeing all the wooden pieces laid out like this is so satisfying, it’s always exciting before the colors and details come in. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together next!

Oh…okay. Thanks for clarifying. Yes, I agree that painting may have been easier. I have had moments as well where I thought "I should’ve done…(this or that) ".
