Previously…
Well, hello there! It’s been a while since the last time I’ve almost daily posted my updates on a kit I was building. It was supposed to be the Cuckoo Clock, but random things happen when you visit a store that sells Robotime kits, so I ended time buying my first ever Miniature House. Let’s see how it goes!
The first big difference I’ve found from the wooden puzzles I’m more used to is the amount of things not included in my beloved wooden leaves of parts. So many bags of tiny little things! And even some tools! I’ve been thinking for a while now about buying some tweezers, but I’m so glad now that I haven’t done that! I guess they’ll be really helpful when being precise about placing a part somewhere. We’ll see.
Another difference I’ve found interesting is the way the instruction manual is made; instead of numbered steps in black and white, the manual is colorful and separated in named sections for every kind of little thing you’re crafting. It’s an interesting new world for me! So let’s start diving into it.
For my first day trying this, I’ve started by crafting a sculpture display table, a couple of bar stools, two dining chairs and their dining table.
So the sculpture display table was pretty easy and straightforward, not a lot to say about it.
The two bar stools were just a little bit more intricate. For one of them, the two parts for the legs wouldn’t hold together so I had to use a drop of glue for them. Glue is showing up soon enough this time, folks!
Also, it was tricky to remove those parts for the legs from the wooden leaves. One of them even broke when doing so! So convenient they came with a spare.
Then came the dining chairs. It was a delicate and dangerous process since, and as @mchipman pointed out to me, so fragile. But I was careful enough and nothing bad happened here, phew ![]()
Then, for the last part of the tables and chairs kit, the dining table. This one was easy and pretty straightfoward. There’s also a sticker that looks like some kind of center tablecloth, and then I found out something about this kind of kit: when it comes to stick decorations to the furniture, there’s no specific place marked with an “X” or painted anywhere. The instructions just tell you “here”, and you decide how precise to be about it.
Not bad, not bad!
Well, I didn’t want to finish my first time working on this with just a few chairs and a couple of tables, so I decided to go for the bar and the two flower boxes as well.
The bar is a nice boxed-shaped piece of furniture that basically consists of some wooden parts fitting together, something I’m soooo used to. And then, for the decorations, some tiny little paintings: basically small wooden parts to which you add a painting made of paper by using double-sided tape. Again, the instructions just show you where to stick those paintings in the bar, and you decide how precise (or, you know, original) to be about it.
Looks good enough! Can’t wait to order some beers there.
Last but not least, the flower boxes. Which are basically that, tiny boxes that, as I’ve seen in the pictures, will be place on the side windows.
Pretty straightforward as well. Looking nice!
I’m enjoying this so far. It’s an interesting and different thing, to craft tiny things separately so I need to store them together somewhere (I still have some boxes since I’ve moved two months ago, phew!), and I’m excited about the journey ahead.
I’ll keep you posted! Next update tomorrow, probably.
