My my! How could I gorget this. I haven’t told you about my short, yet fun, journey through building my first Rolife small wooden-style kit, the 3D Airplane I’ve received as the October Mistery Prize last year.
Until then, I didn’t really know about these smaller kits! And they’re really wonderful for a break between bigger kits or, you know, if you wanna do something smaller or shorter for a chance, something that could maybe take you one or two evenings. Which is amazing for a rainy Sunday evening, let me tell you that!
As all the kits I know from this “line”, there are three leafs of parts, nothing more, nothing less. And kindly remember… These parts are thinner and more fragile than the bigger kit ones!
Either way, they’re fun to work with. I’ve never thought of building a small plane honestly, but since it was a gift from Robotime, how was I gonna refuse? And I had more fun that I expected putting this small old-fashion wonder together.
The main structure, or the skeleton if you like, reminded me of how you build the skeleton of a ship kit: those long parts coming together with the other ones along the way. And hey! There’s already a sit available for your tiny little pilot.
The process? I found it easy and pretty straightfoward, although there are a couple of pieces “crossing” the main structure from left to right (or right to left, blablabla) that almost made me break the side of the plane by mistake. Phew! Close enough, but didn’t happen.
Oh, and hey! The tiny little pilot already has his (or her) cute miniguns ready for action.
Yeah, yeah… A football match was in the background while I was busy with this airplane ![]()
Anyway. The front of the plane and the propeller were also pretty easy to put together. And you can turn it around as much as you want! It’s a nice stress-reliever, let me tell you that.
Almost last but not least, the wings. The first part of them is easy and quick, just attach it to the main structure and there we go, my friend. But then…
Then you’re adding the second layer. And then, for the third one, it may take a bit of your time to assemble the three layers of wings together with the provided parts for it, so you’ll slightly move the wings up and down and left and right until the three parts fit. And then same story on the other side. It was fun nonetheless!
Aaaand finally, the base. I’m gonna say, I was a bit reluctant about this when I received it from @Robotime, like “what is this little wooden uncolored thing? This is not my kind of kit”. But my mind opened after I started with it, and it’s a different way of enjoying your Rolife kit.
Also, it can easily make its way through your shelves if you’re running out of space. Easier than with the bigger ones ![]()
What do you think @Orangesareus? Should I bring a tiny pilot along with Rose and Jack so he can pilote this thing?
