Hello there!
So… I was supposed to start the Cuckoo Clock this week but, sadly, due to a delivery issue I have to wait for another week. No panic! I went to the store and found a decent amount of these little smaller cheaper Rolife kits, and thought to myself… Well! I can go for one of those in the meantime to kill the week, right? And of course, since it’s me we’re talking about, it had to be the ship. I love ships. I can’t help it (and that’s why the Viking Ship kit won’t be far from me for too long… Probably after 2 or 3 more kits, huh).
So since the Cuckoo Clock is coming next Monday/Tuesday (fingers crossed…), I’ve decided to split this small build in three days. It’s a bit… Hard? Since these kits are short and you can easily finish them in a single evening if you have the will and time
but I’ll try.
I’m still amazed at the little wonders that can come out of three single sheets of parts
anyway, there we go!
So for the first day I decided to go for the full main structure. By putting the first few parts together you can already get an idea of the size of it. It’s gonna be a cute little ship, isn’t it?
From that point, the building process of the ship skeleton goes pretty straightforward.
And then, after the skeleton and… Hull? It’s time for the decks. I’ve honestly found the foldable parts of the Rolife kits being in general more… Stable and less fragile? Than the ROKR ones.
And last but not least (for this first of three days), the last parts of the hull, including the Rolife branding which looks pretty nice on the stern area:
It’s a cuite little build! I’m kind of getting used to these smaller and faster Rolife kits to kill time between the “big” ones (although I’ve gotta admit, I’m missing them and their long and relaxed daily process a lot).
I also kind of fancy their wooden color, which is probably the main reason why I’ve decided not to paint them.
So… Tomorrow I’ll probably finish building the ship, and for the last time I’ll deal with the sails and ropes. This will be my third Rolife-smaller and faster kit. I haven’t posted them but I’ve also made the Airplane and the Ferris Wheel.
The Airplane was pretty straightforward, and I truly love how it looks.
The Ferris Wheel was a nice and even faster build, although I’m not sure why some of the cabins don’t rotate when I turn the whell. Maybe I need to wax them a bit?
Either way, they look nice, don’t they? See you/read you around!
