Over the course of an entire week, everyone painted the same miniatures in different colors. However, each person chose their hues according to their own tastes, moods, and preferences of that week. This observation truly caught my attention, and that’s why I wanted to write this piece.
In miniatures, color selection is often based on psychological effects. For instance, when choosing the color of a chair, calming and soothing tones are preferred, while bright and vibrant colors are used to create an energetic and lively atmosphere. Pastel shades, on the other hand, offer calmness and tranquility, making them ideal for creating a peaceful and serene environment. Similarly, the color of curtains, rugs, flowers, or furniture is chosen based on the psychological impact and the desired mood of the space. In this way, color selection in miniatures plays a crucial role in completing the emotional and aesthetic harmony of each piece.
This is such a thoughtful and interesting reflection.
I love how you connect color choices with mood and psychology, it’s so true that what we choose often reflects how we’re feeling in that moment. I’m always drawn to blue, though But yeah, it really makes you look at miniatures not just as objects, but as little emotional spaces we create. Beautifully written.
Blue generally symbolizes peace, tranquility, and calmness. Psychologically, it has a soothing effect and often evokes feelings of trust and loyalty. Using blue in miniatures can bring a sense of serenity and create a peaceful atmosphere for the viewer. Additionally, blue can also inspire creativity, making it a meaningful choice for miniatures. I also like to use the blue colors in my miniatures, it is my favourite color🩵
Green is often associated with nature, renewal, and calmness. Psychologically, it’s soothing, reduces stress, and relaxes the mind. It also symbolizes hope, freshness, and new beginnings. That’s why green is often chosen for the walls of examination rooms or clinics.
I think that depending on your mood on a given day, perhaps the building you painted blue might have ended up being painted green or red if you had painted it the next day. I believe that a person’s daily mood or psychology influences our color choices.
As you said, everyone chooses their own color scheme according to personal preference. And that will create color diversity for the model. You don’t necessarily have to follow any rules or color standards. Above all, just use whatever colors you like.
I love seeing how each build is painted differently from the others. It’s nice to read that each colour has a meaning to contribute to the scene in the end. Thank you for sharing this.
I sometimes also think color choosing reflects our personalities. The optimistic people choose more vibrant light colors and pessimistic more dark ones. It’s like the brain’s way of working. Chemistry in the brain
