Elsa’s Tailoring becomes “Olimpia’s Workshop” — now open!
This project took me much longer than expected, mostly because since September I’ve had very little free time (back to school has been tough!
). But now that it’s finally finished, I’m so proud of how it turned out.
In the end, I ended up changing more things than I originally planned and kept others that felt right — like the earrings and necklace, which remind me so much of my grandma. She loves wearing jewelry, like a proper elegant 80-year-old lady.
One of the main changes I added were personal photos and tiny crochet details. My grandma often talks about my grandpa, who passed away 33 years ago, so I thought adding pictures of them together would make her really happy — along with some old photos of her wearing a dress her sister made.
Since she has spent her whole life crocheting and sewing, I adapted Elsa’s Tailoring to include yarn balls everywhere, a hidden crochet hook, bits of fabric, a white sewn blanket, a colorful mini throw, and even a crochet dress.
Tip 1: For the yarn balls, I rolled up small bits of yarn and secured them with super glue or hot glue.
Tip 2: For the photos, I used the same trick as with the mini boxes (👍 [Rolife DIY & Creativity] Tiny Personalized Paper Boxes Made Easy - #26 by Wenbare). I measured the frames I wanted, used something simple like Canva to resize the photos, printed them, and glued them in place.
Tip 3: If you want to customize a kit, don’t be afraid to move things around and test what looks best! Sometimes it’s worth breaking away from the original setup — it’s your space to play with.
I also decided to swap the positions of the table, the mirror, and the dress, and I placed a small granny square under the main cabinet. Here in Spain, grandmas’ homes are always full of crochet — blankets, doilies, everything handmade — and mine is no exception. It felt like the perfect touch to represent her.
And that’s it! My little tribute to my grandma Olimpia is finally complete. ![]()
I hope you like how it turned out — I really enjoyed creating it with so much love and meaning.
Elsa’s Tailoring is quite a simple and pleasant kit. It’s easy to enjoy right from the start, and the final result —even without any customization— is so beautiful that I’m really glad I decided to give it a try.
Once I get to see her and give it to her, I’ll take some photos to share — I really hope she’ll love it!![]()
