Just made it harder as the paint seeped through the other sides. I fixed it with some black paint, but then I noticed the fix, so I painted a 4th coat on some strips, and said I am done with this…
After looking at it my OCD wouldn’t let me be done with it, so all the other strips get a another coat of black too .
It’s been probably 20 years since I have painted anything artistic. It kinda makes me want to paint again, but also realizing that with the relaxation and results being rewarding, it can also be stressful when you mess something up lol.
Lots of tiny detail, which was a struggle with my brush that kept wanting to splinter.
Happy with the results so far. Hoping the last update will be 100% completed. Might try to do something creative with the croc, which might take a little longer.
You are doing an amazing job…and as a painter, I truly admire your efforts and attention to detail. I notice that you are using the blue tape. Is it the sharp edge blue tape tape..and are you pressing it down with something hard…( like the edge of your fingernail)? This only happens once in a while for me. By the way your fine line work is awesome!
It still looks great for me but I can relate having an OCD and it really annoys me most of the time especially when the lines are not straight or anything that goes wrong with my eyes. Violet and yellow/gold are good combination.
Yeah I probably should have pressed it in a little tighter with my nail, and I really lathered on some thin paint on the edges, so the painters tape didn’t work. Welp nothing like good ol fashion brush line work. I realized what my straight line method is again, its top to bottom stroke .
I am sure the painters tape would have worked if I pressed a little harder and used a thicker paint. Oh well it did make me apply another layer of black on the board, which it kinda needed.
Thank you, yeah it can really get to you once you notice something, or mess up after doing some fine detail. Good thing most things are fixable…but then the fix is showing, so then you gotta fix the fix
We are are still learning…even after painting houses for 35 years…there is always something new to learn. If painting a stark color (like white over black…or vise versa) You can ‘seal’ the edges of the tape with the original color that is under the tape by painting color first…or actually AGAIN. Tedious work..but yours is looking SO good!
Wowwww that’s stunning! I too struggle with wanting my lines crisp and neat so I think you did ana amazing job! I could never attempt painting this so I’ll live through your photos!
I think about two weeks, its become an obsession that I need to finish before I take care of anything else, putting in any spare time I have. Probably 4-6 hours a day.
@TinkerTime this looks great! I understand the need to get everything just right, but trust me, only you will see the little imperfections. To the rest, it looks amazing
