Even with a hammer, these things are NOT easy…SO much sanding and waxing involved here…and the toothpicks flying all over the place when I cut them with my snippers…UGH! @Jerry_Boswijk

Oh my! I hope you’ll find a way to make it work this time. Take as much in between builds as you need.
These models built by wood trick are very hard to do because the pieces are so thick. My son got me this one for my birthday back in November so I need to get it done @Tricia12

don’t force yourself to do something your not enjoying, though, I can’t say much, I’m at like book 30 out of 45 in my kit and I’m just like

Why aren’t you happy? I’ve never experimented with toothpicks and rubber bands before.
When you clip off the toothpicks, they go flying everywhere, then you have to sand over the edge you cut…and of course touch up the paint. All pieces are very thick and most are held in place by expansion joints. You have to sand and wax almost every piece in order to get them in. @ThaoNguyen
May I know which model are you discover with…? It sound like quit challenging… 
Oh, it sounds like there are so many steps involved, and we have to be very meticulous. Now I understand.

I also look for some challenge kits for myself

Awww… That sounds frustrating, those tiny pieces can really test your patience 
Please take care while cutting and sanding, and don’t forget to protect your hands and eyes
Slowing down and staying safe is always more important than rushing through a build
