📖 [ROKR Journey] Little Builders vs. Santa on Sleigh: Christmas Challenge

After wrapping up the Evergreen Pine Bonsai updates, it was time for a Christmas Little Builders chapter again: The Santa on Sleigh!

I had two of these kits, and from the very beginning I warned the kids who got them that this one was a bit tricky. But I also reassured them: I had already built it at home, I knew the kit well, and I’d be right there to help whenever needed. So at first, I stayed very close to them.

Surprisingly… they didn’t need me as much as I expected! Between the two of them, they kept moving forward really well and figured out a lot on their own.

This is one of those kits that I like more and more every time I see it. Not just because of the Kawaii Santa (@JDisaduck, you have no idea how much I laughed showing the kids that front-facing Santa photo and telling them to look closely :joy:).

That said, now having seen four people build it from scratch, the kits and two in the meetup, I can confirm: it looks intimidating at first. The amount of pieces and the way it’s assembled can be scary for beginners… but it’s actually very doable.

This time there were no broken pieces at all, which is a huge win, and both kids followed the instructions really well. The trickiest part so far has been the piece that goes right under Santa. It was hard to press and fit correctly, and that took some patience.

They absolutely loved the little drawer detail in the base, especially the tiny snowflake inside. In fact, they’re using the drawer to store the bells or the carrot so nothing gets lost!

After about three sessions, they were already very close to finishing it, just one final push left. They are blown away by the result, and honestly… it really does look incredible.

Next update: Santa on Sleigh, finished!

They are completely in love with this kit :santa_claus:

Aww look at them go! I’m honestly so proud of all the kids! :pink_heart:

They get to be hands on and also learn something along the way, so much better than being glued to phones and screens. I work with kids from time to time and you have no idea how sad it is to see them fixated on their phones.

Thank for tagging me hehe I’ve been waiting! I hope they laughed at his mugshot too!

Aww, thank you so much! :face_holding_back_tears:
They’re doing amazing, honestly. It’s been so beautiful to see how focused, patient and proud they are of their work. And YES!! They definitely laughed at Santa’s mugshot :joy::joy: I showed it to them and told them to look at Santa straight on… instant giggles.

Totally agree with you. Seeing them so engaged, hands-on and helping each other instead of staring at screens is one of the best parts of this whole experience. Worth it a thousand times over

Totally agree with you! That’s exactly what I love about these kits. They’re challenging enough to be engaging, but still very doable, even for beginners. And seeing the kids so focused and proud of what they’re building is the best part
