📖 [Rokr Journey] Day 3: Dream Gift Factory… Snap, Crackle and Pop

Okay Day three is here and we are on page 36?(maybe 38?) out of 50. The Tree is spinning! the cogs and gears are working…. Save by the Powder Technique….

The Progress

Challenges

Snap
I used the tools… and patience but I still found myself snapping few small pieces so I use the Glue

Crackle
This is the powder I used, I specifically picked a silky type of powder, and I have a make up setting powder by Laura Mercier. There should be way cheaper options, just used what was available.

Pop
This piece right here wouldn’t stay in for some reason, and would pop out. It has to spin so I cant just simply glue it in the hole…. However I ended up gluing the tip of the rod to the disc so it stays with the rod and still spins properly. I don’t think I missed a step but it was a good moment to find a solution.

Super exciting! Can’t wait to finish it so I can finish my actual Christmas Tree :christmas_tree:

You have had great experiences and shared them. The kit is exciting. You did well

Hmmm…powder….I’ve never heard of this technique until Jerry mentioned it…but if it works that is all that matters. I’ve always have success with the wax provided and never ventured beyond that. Are you using a razor knife to cut out your parts…or did that one break during installation?

It snapped during me pushing it inside the tiny hole!!! I try to work around my pressure but sometimes, i guess the angle, would make it snap. Doesn’t happen often but I am glad that it did not completely broke off

ahahaha its actually so funny and I love how smooth the mechanics is going

So Helpful! One thing I remember reading was to use like and Xacto knife to remove pieces from the board. I almost always use tweezers but then @Nita_Davis said the knife was better to prevent breakage. I got a better one for Christmas that I will use. I am hoping someone gives me “a lot of patientce” and some “gentle touch”
But I will also have glue!

You can use regular talcum powder from any brand. The used for little baby’s. Never seen someone using make up powder.

I just used what I had available tbh  I did not have the trusty Johnsons baby powder on hand, but i think ill pick up a polymer based powder to make it silky smooth

Your progress looks amazing! Snap, crackle and pop or not, you handled every challenge like a pro. The spinning tree is such a satisfying milestone. I love how resourceful you were. Sometimes the best part of these builds is figuring out clever little fixes along the way!
