👍 [Rokr - Challenge & Achievement] It Works! First Big Test of My Cuckoo Clock Build

Today has been such an exciting day for my Cuckoo Clock build!!

(Yes, in the second video I clicked the wrong switch and tried to do the light show with the wrong one :joy::joy:)

After going out to buy the batteries, I finally sat down to test the lights, the sound, and of course… the little cuckoo. At first it was a bit chaotic because I kept turning the clock hand and the cuckoo wouldn’t come out or make a sound. Just a click. My husband had to jump in because apparently you need to hold part of the piece in a very specific way to activate it, and honestly, there was no way I could reach that angle on my own… :joy:

For a moment I thought it wasn’t going to work at all, but… IT DID!!

And when it finally popped out, it scared both of us, because it’s louder than it looks! We laughed so much afterwards.

After that little adventure, I tested everything: The lights, the cuckoo popping out with the switch, the light transitions on/off and even checked that everything works both with batteries and with the cable! And everything worked perfectly!! I’m sooo happy!

The only downside is that I spent so much time today doing only tthis, that I could only do the testing and not much more. But tomorrow I hope to find another moment to keep building. I’m loving this journey so far!

That cuckoo is adorable :star_struck: seeing the video was nostalgic because my home once had a cuckoo clock when I was a kid. Great to know it worked.

It is such a good feeling when you turn something on and it does what it should! I called my husband to come see the cuckoo. When I was building the Music Christmas tree, I made him and my son come up and see the gears, then the train, and then the tree when it all was being tested! Very Exciting!

In a mechanical model, it’s always the testing that is most stressful…and then it turns into the most satisfying moment when all is good. YAY!

I always feel like a scientist or hacker when I do my first tests. :joy:

Totally!!! For a moment I really thought it wasn’t going to work, and I was worried that if I had to request a replacement part, it would be impossible to have it ready in time to give it as a gift…

That’s so nice! I do the same! I also call my husband to come see the things I’m building, even when they’re not finished yet, or when I’ve just completed something that was really challenging or turned out great. Plus, he has really good ideas and always gives me a new perspective I hadn’t seen before. It’s such a great thing!

Absolutely true!!! Plus, I always have that little worry in my head about things not working and not knowing whether it’s because I messed something up or because it actually doesn’t work :joy:

Me too!! :joy: :joy:

Aww how cute congratulations on making it work! Testing can be the trickiest part! But now that it’s out of the way hopefully you’ll get time tomorrow to enjoy the fun part of building! :pink_heart:

I love seeing your progress and how everything moves so smoothly. Can’t wait to see more updates or maybe a video of it in action. Great job! :hammer_and_wrench::sparkles:

Thank you! It’s really satisfying kit

I just completed my Cuckoo clock, but it only chimes three times regardless of the hour. Is this normal?
