I recently won this Sea Holiday Restaurant kit from a Rolife Facebook contest (thank you again!), and it couldn’t have arrived at a better time. I’ve been feeling pretty under the weather and ended up oversleeping today. My husband came back from his graveyard shift and told me he’ll watch over our daughter while I get a few more hours of rest.
I woke up to a surprise! My 7-year-old daughter decided the “Grand Opening” couldn’t wait and had already hastily unboxed the kit for me! She took advantage of the time that Daddy went to the toilet so this is what I immediately saw on our working table:
My daughter wanted to help, she tried building the chair but she accidentally broke its brown footing. It’s a very thin piece of wood so really, I don’t blame her for breaking it. Nothing a good glue can’t fix.
Honestly? So far, it is the best distraction. Focusing on these tiny beachy details really helped me forget about the sniffles for a while.
You know how the seabreeze is actually helpful for colds? It kinda gave me that placebo effect, I guess. I can smell the salty seabreeze while building this kit.
Moral of the story: Even if you can’t get to the actual beach, a miniature one is a great cure for a fever. Please send vitamins and extra glue!
Haha thank you! Could have finished it faster if I’m not sick right now. And the little impatient helper felt bad for breaking the wooden part. I kept telling her it’s okay but now that the glue has dried, she keeps on looking at the part where it broke.
Thank you! And yes, the impatient little helper felt a bit sorry tho after she broke some parts haha. It bothers her that she knows that part is broken even tho she can’t see it anymore since the glue has dried up.
Thank you! KakaLazada ko ‘to eh haha char. And yesss!! Lover the plants in this kit too! You put them all over the walls and the ground, it’s so fun to look that there are plants wherever you look at this compact kit.
You are so right! Slowing down really is the key to this hobby but I’m just a little impatient at times too. The itch of building an opened kit needed some scratching haha. I was a bit worried she lost some of the parts so I wanted to work on it right after seeing the surprise.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I do hope she adjusts to it soon. Being on the spectrum gives her a hard time adjusting these kinds of problems but I’m using it as a tool to teach her that it can still be fixed even if there are broken parts.
