I see lots of community members sharing that their significant others like to build miniatures with them. But lots of others, like me, build miniatures in our own because our partners don’t share this hobby. When you’re not building miniatures, what hobby do you turn to? Is there a different hobby that you can share with your significant hobby, or does he/she enjoy a completely different hobby from you? I am genuinely interested in hearing about other hobbies especially considering we are made up of so many different ethnicities…it will be fun to see some unique hobbies!
When I’m not building miniatures, which is not very often…my husband and I create Stained Glass projects. I would love to find a way to incorporate stained glass into my miniatures, but it would be so difficult to make something so small. Something to work toward though! Here are a few of our projects. Please share your most cherished projects!
When I’m not building miniatures, I’m usually coloring
My significant other will help with builds sometimes, but it’s not really his thing, and coloring is definitely a no for him
He actually owns his own painting business, which is really cool to watch! He’s usually pretty busy, but we’ll still hang out together while I’m working on something cozy and he’s relaxing or watching a movie.
And honestly… I’ve come to really love that! We’re doing completely different things, but still sharing the same cozy space ![]()
Also I absolutely love your stained glass! They are beautiful and look very detailed ![]()
If im not crafting (which is rare) i will turn to my Canvas to paint a Landscape, i love art and have loved it since i was a child. Me and my husband dont share the same hobbies at all because he builds computers and Screens for himself every year! Which..is very expensive (almost £2.000 to be exact..) ofcourse my 2 sons arent that interested but my daughter does like me to display cute super creators in her room ![]()
That’s awesome that you spend time together doing different things. There’s a peace and security in sharing the same space. ![]()
Awesome…you should share your landscapes!
I would definetly be too embarrased to share
i dont even share them to my own family ![]()
This is so beautiful, Tina. Your stained glass pieces are amazing! I love that you have something creative to share together, even if miniatures are just yours!
WOW! Those are beautiful! What a nice hobby to share!
Wow, you really have so many talents! Your stained glass is beautiful.
@Alicesharpe awww, that’s sad. You should be so proud of your talents! ![]()
Thank you @Wenbare we love spending time together, just not always doing the same thing.
Thanks you very much @Nita_Davis !
Thank you so much @Zoe_Lau !
So beautiful! I especially love the cardinals!
When I am not doing these kits, then something with my Cricut. Might be sublimation T-shirts, tumblers, or windspinners. Might be etching. No pics on ipad so will add later.
I would love to see some more of your crafts @jeanneL
@jeanneL I don’t know what sublimation is, but I love the idea of spinners.
Now I have to go upstairs to computer to show! LOL
Sublimation is actually pretty cool. You print, using special ink on to sublimation paper. You then take an item which has to have a special coating, like a sublimation tumbler or a polyester T shirt. Place print on to surface and apply heat. It turns the ink into a gas and transfers to the poly surface, repeating the pattern. It is permanent, unlike a vinyl transfer.
I will se
see if I can find some of my stuff
wow. So beautiful. You did great
If we’re not building DIY kits, I guess we are still basically crafting? My husband helps me out with making this customized toys. Basically, they are called Nendoroids but it is customized because the character we make are those that aren’t official released by the manufacturer of these toys. ![]()
It’s a combination of sculpting, digital drawing, airbrushing, handpainting miniatures, and sewing mini clothes. Haha. I guess that’s why we got into these DIY kits because they go so well as backgrounds for these Miniature toys. ![]()
