👍 [Quality Post] Getting Inside the Mechanics (and a Must-Use Tool!)

Continuing with the build!

With these photos, I think it’s starting to become a bit more obvious which kit I’m working on, right? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I always find it fascinating to see, build, and understand how these kits work on the inside. I felt the same way with the Marble Run sets, the inner mechanisms are just amazing!

Once I start adding moving parts, it’s time to test everything again. (I’m definitely one of those people who checks a thousand times. Every time I move or adjust something, I recheck the mechanisms, just in case.)

I really appreciate when there’s a proper space for the cables to go through—it helps keep things tidy. It’s honestly frustrating when they don’t stay in place and you have to come up with a way to secure them so they don’t get damaged.

And now, the tip of the day:

See that piece labeled “Tool”? It’s one of the most useful things you’ll ever find. I used to use anything I had on hand to press pieces into place without breaking them, but since we have this part, it’s saved me a lot of trouble, and pain in my fingers!
Use it whenever you can!

Oh, now I see which building it is. The tool really seems handy. I save all the tools, and sometimes they do come in handy for other buildings.

With these photos, the mystery’s officially gone, right? :joy:

I keep all of mine too, just in case they’re useful for other kits. Things like this, along with saving all the leftover parts and pieces, always come in handy!

Those tools always come in handy! I love how they design these to keep them as neat as possible!

Can’t wait to see this one finished. It’s going to be lovely. I save a lot of my tools as well. One of my favorites is a tiny little “stand” that I constantly use as tiny sawhorses…LOL!

Yes! And how perfectly they fit always amazes me, haha!

Those are the best kinds of tools, the ones that are meant for one thing but end up being perfect for something else. You get used to them, and they turn out to be super useful :joy:

This tool should also be in book nooks. It would come in handy

I can’t remember which kit I used it in, but it’s not the first time one has come with this. If I’m not mistaken, it’s something you find more often in the wooden ones

Thank you, Wendy! I appreciate you sharing these valuable tips

Thanks for sharing your experience. I tend to assemble things without checking them. One time, I finished putting it together and it wouldn’t turn. I took it apart and put it together again. This really slowed things down.

You’re welcome! I try to help everyone when they ask for it, but if I’m building something and something like this comes to mind—something I think could be a useful tip—then I try to share it whenever I have the time

Oh yes, once it happens to you, you never forget it. That’s why it’s better not to forget in the first place, because if everything is already assembled, especially if it’s been firmly glued, taking it apart can easily mean breaking it or making a big mess

What a great tip—thank you for sharing it! :raising_hands:

Hope it helps!!

Every time I make a mistake, I tell myself, “It’s okay. I’m so good I’ll fix it soon. I’m just slowing down now.”

I like this mantra. So many people blame themselves when they make a mistake, but it should be the other way around. You should focus on the positive, value yourself, and remind yourself that you can fix it :flexed_biceps:t2:

Definitely need to be careful when putting it together. I’ve accidentally damaged a few parts myself, but thankfully Robotime was kind enough to send me extra pieces for free.
