This is a whole different type of painting…aside from wooden models. It is taking several coats for any color besides black that I put on. This is definitely a work in progress and I need to have it done by Friday. I did discover something really cool along the way. I had painted my web on the top with a permanent marker. I covered it with clear nail polish so that I could paint over it but I realized that it just peeled right off. That was pretty cool I still have to add spiders ghosts and bats. Hopefully I will get it done in time. It has been fun, though.
These are super cute! ![]()
I love your tips on painting, i always appreciate them! Ill have to try that when im painting my pumpkin this year, i usually make them into a mask i can wear lol! Last year i painted it pink and took a photoshoot ![]()
Congratulations on your wonderful experience! You did well
Thanks…not done yet…still hoping to reach that deadline. @ThaoNguyen
Thanks! I think this was a super cool discovery, by mistake. It would NOt work on wood though. I might try it out on a plastic piece (the back side, of course)
Let me know how it goes on plastic if you do test that out! ![]()
For sure! @Emma_Samchek
Fingers crossed that you complete on time! So far looking really good!
Thank you so much @jeanneL Still so much detail work to do…
That is so cute @Nita_Davis. Do you use gesso underneath your paint? I always use it to prime the surface and it also needs less coats of paint on top. My favourite is Liquitex, definitely one of my staples ![]()

I have never used a primer on any of my models @Jo_Zanella . This might be something to consider for future models. I’ve done almost 90 so far without it. White works as a primer for yellow which I did NOT do on this pumpkin.
You’re drawings are so cute. Are you gonna paint more pumpkins?
I am also doing a painting project for Halloween too but used the wrong paint for my cardboard drawings. I bought water-based acrylic paint and later found out it’s not ideal on cardboard as the board will only soak the paint ![]()
Thanks! I’ve done acrylic paint on cardboard pieces.. @Jill_Francisco and No, I will not be painting more pumpkins. This one is it…WHEN I get it done…I painted the gold her with acrylic paint 👍 [Quality Post] ROKR Seahorse Barque MDF is compressed wood (kind of like cardboard) and I’ve had no issues at all
It looks really nice
I love your painting skills!
I wanna see!!!
This is so cute! What is the pumkin going to be for?
lol you probably don’t need it after doing so many models! I used to use it when I painted so it seemed natural to use it for models. It does add extra steps though ![]()

Your pumpkins look great. I hope you get them done in time ![]()
That is so cool. My sister was wanting to get a pumpkin last week to paint too. Your pumpkin is looking very cute.
It looks amazing already! I love the cat and the little witch — they add such a fun, magical touch. Can’t wait to see it finished!
