👍 [Pro Tips] Testing Your LED Lights Without Twisting the Wires

Here is a little tip I use all the time when I want to test my LED lights before committing to anything.

If you look at the end of your LED wire and your battery box wire, you will notice that the insulation has been cut back and pulled apart slightly, leaving a small section of bare copper exposed. That stripped end is actually really useful for a quick connection test.

What I do is bend that bare section into a slight hook shape. Then I hook the LED wire and the battery box wire over each other and keep just a little tension on them so they stay in contact. That is it! No twisting, no tangling, no making the ends stiff and hard to thread through the tiny holes in your kit later.
I am including two photos so you can see exactly what this looks like. It takes a second to set up and has saved me so much frustration. If a light is not working, I want to know before I have routed everything through the walls of my build.

Give it a try next time you are testing your lights!N

I always test mine before they’re installed as well. It’s a good habit to have.

You are so smart! I haven’t tried it and I didn’t do any light test because I dont want to twist them already.

Will definitely do this.

Awesome tip about not twisting to test. I always test before building as well. I’ve only ever had one set never work (not Rolife) so I left them out.

Well, if you twist them together just for the test, it sometimes can be difficult to get those twist straightened out to fit through really tiny holes when you’re wiring it. Usually the reason why they don’t have the wires connected to the box is because of that.

Which kits have you done that you never did wiring? Almost everyone of mine have had light. Some have more complicated then others!

So far ive only done super creators which is why i havent done wiring

That is pretty easy and not much to do but plug it in!
Well do not be afraid. It is not as hard as it seems. The older kits are a lttle more complicated.
The important message is really when needing to do be sure to test along the way so can correct any issues before entire kit is put together.
