[Pro Tips] Placing spikes and base coat

Today i had a day off and my daughter has a holiday at the moment. So she worked on her fake nails and i worked on the tank.

I finally found a way to add spikes. I sprayed black paint on toothpicks and cut the top off and glued them on the rims.
I added bulletholes and damage to the body.

Insprayed the body with matt black paint.

Now we have to wait for the rust paint to arrive. I will not be using the black oxide i checked multiple youtube video’s and none of them had the desired effect.

I love how it’s turning out, I can’t wait to see it with the rust.

The bullet holes and damage details really add to the realism, and the matt black coat ties it all together perfectly.

Jerry_Boswijk, this is such a clever way to add spikes, toothpicks never looked so tough! The bullet holes, damage, and matte black base coat are giving the tank a seriously gritty look. Hope the rust paint arrives soon, I cannot wait to see the next layer come to life!

Wooooow Jerry it’s looking good! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: I love the spikes and bullet holes, it’s giving Mad Max vibes!

I’ve probably missed a lot of posts so did you end up choosing the iron oxide?

Nope. I watched all youtube video’s i could find about it and none reached the effect promised. I bought 2 types of rust and 1 light dirt. Im gonna brush the rust on thick and then tap it with a bit of sponce with thinner on it to get an broken up rust effect on the model and dust for the wheels and fenders.

Oh I like this idea! When I used a sponge for my customised brick walls I was really happy with the results. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: You can also try dry painting?

When you complete your build can you please tag me so I see it! Since I don’t catch up on posts.

Yeah i want to buy some dry brushing brushes for my next. Model I’m still thinking of buying some metal paint and drybrushing that on the edges and corners of the windows to give something extra.
