[Pro Tips] Owl clock - day 1 - gears,gears,gears

I started the owl clock today. The first steps are all gears, in all shapes and sizes and every single one needed to be waxed properly.

I need it to run smoothly.

Tomorrow I will continue my owl clock journey. Probably by adding the first color, I have made up my mind how I want it. Now I just need to determine which parts need coloring and which don’t.

Keep you posted!

Thank you! I have seen some posts about struggles as well, here and on Facebook . I’m taking it one step at the time and face it as it comes. Hopefully it will all turn out fine so I might be able to give some tips later

I just saw a post where @MandyMoon said she had done this one. She might be able to offer some advice…???

I’m glad you’ve worked out your colours. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you’ve come up with.

Thank you! More updates will follow soon

I recently built the bread factory kit and it didn’t come with wax, or does it have to be bought separately?

Those gears look quite intimidating. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Those gears look very fragile. I hope this continues to go smoothly!

I’m quite afraid of gears; one wrong move and you won’t be able to make it move.

This kit comes with a little bar of wax in it. And I have some leftovers from other kits as well. Until now I did not have to use any of the leftover ones, I’m still using the one that was in the kit.

I have seen some posts on Facebook where things were not working properly or where people struggled on a particular part of building this kit.

I will look them up again when I arrive at that point and hope I can manage and get it to work without any problem :crossed_fingers:

Thank you, I’m having fun so far. Looking forward to building the rest of it.

They do, they have already made me a little anxious of breaking something since I had made a small mistake. But luckily I could fix all without doing any damage.

They do indeed. I made a small mistake in assembling 1 of those, and upon fixing it, I was really scared I would break something. But I could manage without doing any damage

Yes, that is why I read my instruction 2-3 times before actually building each step. I made one mistake so far, so I needed to pull that one apart, and it really cost me some time, because once it clicked together or you added one of those round pieces to the little metal bar it’s very hard to get it undone without damaging something.

Luckily I managed to fix it and all is still fine

It’s great to hear that. You did great
