This little guy has a lot more to it than I thought. This one has LOTS of gears and you have to wax the heck out of it (thank you @Nita_Davis
). Had to make a few adjustments to get everything to turn smoothly. So far, so good!
I am always so happy to offer assistance. There are so many people who do not understand when they are working with wood that sanding and waxing are the two most important things when building.
Boy, have I learned that lesson through all of these builds!
Excellent tip! Thank you for sharing ![]()
You are very welcome @Pappidachs A lot of members here are Rolife Fans but I started with ROKR. The wooden models are much different than those meant to snap together and it pains me to see so many struggle.
Better to learn in the beginning. Happy building to you from here on out. I hope that all goes well for you.
The cello is coming nicely.
Have fun building it.
@Mark_Rudnik looks like it’s coming along great my friend!!
That feeling when the gears finally turn smoothly after all that waxing and adjusting is so satisfying! Haha
Excellent tip! Thank you for sharing
Coming along nicely!!! Keep breathing and enjoy the process. Yes this kit really need a lot of waxing and sanding and TLC.
It’s already starting to look like a violin! You’re doing such a great job!
Hope its going well! It looks good
Good to know it’s already working fine
enjoy the rest of the build
I’m glad you’re going through it first so that I can follow in your footsteps. I’ve not made anything with gears yet and given my history of breaking pieces, I’m nervous…
Here are my rules for success _ sand, wax sand wax. Don’t force, gently rock the pieces into place. If they still don’t fit, sand the pegs on the sides. Then, gently rock them in. San, wax, sand, wax. I’m having a blast with this one, so I’m sure you will love it to!
@Mark_Rudnik wow its looking great ! Its nice to have great tips also ! ![]()

This one does have lots of gears and some delicate pieces too. It’s looking great though @Mark_Rudnik
So many gears inside this. I’m really appreciating you showing your progress.
It is coming along well @Mark_Rudnik!
The gears look intimidating enough for me to just appreciate it from the sidelines. I know that lights, wires and gears will never be my cup of tea.
Looking forward to seeing your next post.
