[Pro Tips] Music Dreamer: Sunset Carnival & One Stubborn Belt | Help

I’m currently making the Music Dreamer: Sunset Carnival kit. I was excited to start building it, and everything went really well through the first few steps. The initial test run was smooth too, which made me even more eager to continue.

However, during the second test run, I noticed that it wasn’t running as smoothly anymore. The gears seem to be waxed sufficiently, especially since everything turned nicely during the first test. The noise I’m hearing now sounds more like a grunt or grinding sound, and it seems to be coming from the belt area. (I haven’t taken a video as of this posting).

My current theory is that the belt might be a little too tight between the two wooden guides that keep it in place. That’s where the noise appears to be most noticeable. I’ve already applied wax to the areas where the belt makes contact, which helped a little, but I can still hear some grinding and resistance.

Since those wooden pieces lock into place, I’m not sure if there’s any way to loosen them, or if they’re intentionally designed that way to keep the belt aligned and prevent it from catching on other parts.

Has anyone who has completed this kit experienced something similar? If so, did you find a solution or adjustment that helped improve the movement? I’d appreciate any tips or advice before I continue with the build.

Thanks in advance! I’ll post another update once I’ve completed the kit.

When i built this kit i had the problem of the Belt was very tight! Almost impossible to Stretch to the ferris wheel! Though it worked out and that noise will always be normal with mechanicals that have belts! Especially flimsy plastic ones. Mine ran smoothly though. Iy could wax the Wooden Parts that grind against the Belt! Its nothing to worry about

My set is quite smooth. You should use sandpaper to sand down any excess wood.

I’m sorry but I won’t be able to help you since I have not yet built this one. But I noticed with my Dream Gift Factory, the belt also gave out a noise.

I hope someone in the community can help you

Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t build this kit.

If you upload a video showing what’s happening, maybe more people or RoboTime can tell you what it is.

Gidge, thanks for describing the belt issue so clearly. Light sanding where parts rub and careful waxing can help, and if the resistance continues, sharing a new video will make it easier for the community and our team to spot the cause.
