🍓 Petals & Picnics Event Recap: 40 Builders, One Amazing Community 🌸

There are some days that remind you exactly why you started something and Petals & Picnics was one of those days :face_holding_back_tears::two_hearts:

After months of planning, preparing, decorating, organizing supplies, designing signs, assembling goodie bags and counting down the days, our Petals & Picnics: Strawberry Lemonade DIY & Crafting Club Robotime Meetup finally happened—and my heart is so full

All 50 available spots for the event were filled and 40 incredible builders joined us, making this officially the largest crafting meetup I have ever hosted! :tada::cherry_blossom:

Walking into a room filled with people building, laughing, helping one another, sharing stories, and discovering the joy of creating tiny worlds together was honestly surreal. Some attendees were longtime miniature lovers while others were opening their very first Rolife kit

But by the end of the afternoon, we weren’t a room full of strangers anymore. We were a community of builders :growing_heart:

:cherry_blossom: Welcome, Builders!

One of my favorite signs greeted everyone at the entrance with the words:

“Welcome Builders — We’re So Glad You’re Here! Let Your Creativity Bloom & Enjoy the Experience!”

That message captured exactly what I wanted Petals & Picnics to represent

This wasn’t a competition to see who could finish first or build the fastest. Our Build Station reminded everyone:

Choose your kit. Take your time. Enjoy the process. :two_hearts:

For a few hours, everyone could put everything else aside, sit around a table, open a tiny world, and simply create

:seedling: First-Time Builders

One of the most exciting parts of the afternoon was welcoming people who were completely new to miniature building

There’s something really special about watching someone open their first kit and take those first few pieces out of the box. At first, there might be a little uncertainty as they look through the instructions and figure everything out but then you start seeing the confidence grow

Piece by piece, suddenly they’re building something they didn’t know they could make:face_holding_back_tears:

By the end of the event, I heard builders talking about wanting to try another kit and asking about future meetups!

Seeing someone’s curiosity turn into excitement over a new hobby is exactly the kind of impact I hope these gatherings can have :growing_heart:

:house_with_garden: 40 Builders, 40 Tiny Worlds

There was a moment during the afternoon when I stopped what I was doing and just looked around the room

40 builders :face_holding_back_tears:

Everywhere I looked, there were instruction books open, tiny wooden pieces scattered across work mats, glue and tweezers being passed around, people leaning over their creations in concentration and finished pieces proudly being shown to the people sitting nearby

Every builder approached their project a little differently

Some carefully followed every instruction step by step. Others talked and laughed while they worked. Some flew through their builds while others took their time perfecting every tiny detail

And that’s exactly how it should be!

There is no “right” way to enjoy creating :yellow_heart:

:handshake: Building Together

One thing I noticed throughout the event was how naturally people began helping each other

If someone couldn’t figure out a piece, another builder would lean over to help. People compared progress, showed each other tiny details, passed tools across the table, shared advice and celebrated when someone finished

There was no pressure and no competition—just people encouraging one another

Those interactions might seem small, but to me, they’re what transformed a room full of individual builders into a community. Sometimes connection starts with something as simple as: “Do you need help with that piece?” :growing_heart:

:blossom: Creativity Has No Age Limit

Something else I loved about Petals & Picnics was seeing people of different ages and experience levels creating side by side

Some builders had completed miniature kits before. Others were trying one for the very first time!

Some came with friends, some came with family or a partner, and some were brave enough to walk through those doors on their own. But once everyone sat down and started building, none of that mattered.

Everyone had something to talk about. Everyone had something to work toward. Everyone belonged at the table

Creativity truly has no age limit, and community doesn’t require you to already know someone in the room :cherry_blossom:

:yellow_heart: The Best Part Was the People

As much as I love miniature building, these events continue to remind me that the finished miniature is only one small part of the experience

Throughout the afternoon, I walked around checking everyone’s progress, helping with tricky steps, admiring tiny details, taking photos and videos, answering questions and getting to know our builders

I loved seeing someone’s face light up when they completed a difficult section. I loved watching people proudly hold up what they had made. I loved hearing builders compliment one another’s creations.

But most of all, I loved seeing people who hadn’t known each other a few hours earlier sitting around the same tables, laughing and creating together

That’s why I host these meetups :cherry_blossom:

:speech_balloon: In Their Own Words: What Our Builders Said

One of my favorite parts of the day was simply listening to everyone

Throughout the afternoon, builders shared how relaxing and enjoyable the experience felt. Some talked about how much fun they were having trying something new, while others were already discussing which miniature they wanted to build next

I heard excitement over the tiny details, pride when difficult sections finally came together and plenty of conversations about future builds

And perhaps the comment that meant the most was hearing people ask: “When is the next meetup?” :face_holding_back_tears::growing_heart:

I may not remember every exact sentence that was said during such a busy afternoon, but I absolutely remember the feeling behind them—the excitement, curiosity, laughter, and pride that filled the room. That is something I won’t forget

:wrapped_gift: A Little Thank You for Every Builder

I wanted every builder who attended to leave with a little reminder of how grateful I was that they chose to spend their afternoon with us!

So before the event, I prepared individual goodie bags with a little strawberry / flower charm with the message: “A little hug to say a big thank you”

It was such a tiny gift but the message couldn’t have been more perfect. The goodie bags were simply my way of saying:

Thank you for showing up
Thank you for creating with us
Thank you for supporting this growing community

Every single person in that room helped make the day what it was:growing_heart:

:thought_balloon: What I Learned as a Host

Hosting my largest meetup yet also taught me so much as an organizer!

With 40 builders in one room, the afternoon moved FAST! :joy: I was constantly moving between tables, helping with builds, answering questions, taking photos, checking on supplies, talking with builders, and making sure everyone had what they needed

Every event teaches me something new and I’m already taking everything I learned from Petals & Picnics and thinking about how I can make the next gathering even smoother, more interactive and even more special :tulip:

Growing from around 17 attendees at my first meetup to 40 at this one also taught me that hosting a larger event is a completely different experience—and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to learn from it!

:camera_with_flash: One Photo That Means So Much

And then came the group photo :face_holding_back_tears: Unfortunately some people had to leave the event earlier or didn’t want their photo taken

Looking at everyone gathered together with their creations is something I don’t think I’ll ever forget. Behind every person in that picture is a different story. Some came with friends. Some came with family. Some came alone. Some had been building miniatures for years. Some had just completed their very first one

But for one afternoon…

we were all builders :growing_heart:

50 people registered
40 builders showed up
And together, we made this my largest meetup yet :cherry_blossom:

That photo isn’t simply a picture of an event to me. It’s a picture of how much this community has grown!

:two_hearts: A Special Thank You Behind the Scenes

I couldn’t share this recap without thanking my fiancé, who has been one of my biggest supporters throughout this entire journey!

There is so much work that happens before everyone walks through the doors—setting up, organizing, carrying things, figuring out last-minute details and then packing everything back up again when it’s over

Having someone beside me while I hosted my biggest meetup yet made the experience even more special. He even wore his own Petals & Picnics shirt as my “Proud Fiancé & Biggest Cheerleader.” :face_holding_back_tears::yellow_heart:

Having that support behind the scenes means more to me than I can put into words

:globe_showing_americas: The Impact Beyond One Afternoon

What excites me most is knowing that the impact of this meetup doesn’t end when we pack up the tables. Someone may have discovered a new hobby today. Someone may have met a new crafting friend. Someone who came alone may feel more comfortable coming back next time. Someone may go home feeling proud because they created something they didn’t think they could make. And someone who had never experienced Robotime before may now have a tiny creation sitting in their home that reminds them of this afternoon :house_with_garden::two_hearts:

That’s what makes community events like this so meaningful to me

We’re not simply assembling miniature kits—we’re creating reasons for people to gather, connect, slow down and make memories together. And those memories last much longer than the afternoon itself!

:blossom: Thank You, Robotime

A huge and heartfelt thank you to Robotime for continuing to support me as an Ambassador and for helping make opportunities like this possible!

Your support creates opportunities for people to discover a new hobby, step outside their comfort zone, meet someone new and experience the joy and accomplishment that comes from creating something themselves.

Seeing first-time builders become excited about their creations and hearing people already talking about other kits they wanted to try was incredibly rewarding

I am incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to introduce more people in my local community to Robotime and to help create a space where that shared love of crafting can continue growing. Thank you for helping us bring people together—one tiny world at a time :growing_heart:

:cherry_blossom: Tiny Worlds. Big Memories

When the final pieces were placed and we started packing away all of the strawberry decorations, I looked around the room and thought about how different it had looked just a few hours earlier. The tables had been empty. The kits were still inside their boxes. Many of the people walking through those doors had never met.

A few hours later, those same tables had been filled with tiny creations, conversations, laughter, encouragement, helping hands, new friendships and memories. And THAT is what I’ll remember most about Petals & Picnics :face_holding_back_tears:

To every single builder who joined us:
Thank you for creating with us. Thank you for encouraging one another. Thank you for trying something new. Thank you for trusting me with your afternoon

And thank you for making Petals & Picnics my largest and most memorable meetup yet :strawberry::lemon::cherry_blossom:

The miniatures we created may have been tiny… but the memories we made were anything but :growing_heart::sparkles:

With gratitude,
Hailey :two_hearts:

Thank you SO much!! :face_holding_back_tears::growing_heart: This seriously means more to me than you know. One of my biggest goals with these meetups is to create a space where people can come in as strangers, sit down together, create something and leave feeling like they were part of a little community. Seeing that actually happen throughout the afternoon was probably my favorite part of the entire event! Thank you for taking the time to read my whole recap and leave such a thoughtful comment! It really means so much to me and makes all the work that went into this event feel even more worth it
