I’m always on a hunt for a build that is unique and/or historically significant. And this one definitely ticked my boxes.
This is an officially licensed film set from the movie Twilight of the Warriors- Walled In (2024), a Hong Kong action film. It’s a two-sided nook book- an 80s beauty salon on one side and the stacked up homes on the other.
For its size I thought this is going to be simple, but it’s not. The photo instructions are hard to read because they’re small, dark, and unclear. The parts are fragile and flimsy especially on the homes side. But as always, I’m up for the challenge.
Just doing my final touches. Big reveal coming up!
It’s a fun build! It got pretty complicated in the end when I was doing the stacked homes. Even with magnifiers and ample lighting It’s hard to read the instructions, but I just made do. I haven’t seen the movie but because of this, I’m going to watch it. @Kycso
I lived in HK for about 6 years and have always been inspired to build something from HK and other places I’ve been. This is so unique because it shows the dark side of HK. @TheToday
Part of me is sad that I can never see inside the walled city and part of me is glad that no one is living in those conditions anymore.
I’ve always found strange beauty in entropy. It’s the kind of place I would only visit in a dream. I’ve had dreams where I climbed into sewers and found thriving gatherings even festivals underneath the ground. The fascination was overwhelming.
It’s a part of my youth. I watched the TV version 25 years ago. I didn’t think time would fly so fast. It felt like I was transported back to my childhood. The actors have aged, and so have I, but they’re always beautiful and their acting is fantastic.
