Halfway There – Loving How This Book Nook Is Coming Together!

I’m officially halfway through this miniature book nook, and it’s turning out just as I imagined—maybe even better! The details are really starting to come together, and seeing the first half completed makes me even more excited to keep building.

The first section features a traditional salon/barbershop setting inspired by the world of Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In. The film is a Hong Kong action drama set inside the legendary Kowloon Walled City. I have yet to watch the movie. :film_projector:

I’m impressed with how this miniature kit (even if it’s not a Rolife kit) captures that old Hong Kong aesthetic - reminds me of the area where my father’s office manager used to live. He would invite our family to dinner whenever we go to HK. The tiny storefront, weathered details, and cozy atmosphere are exactly what I was hoping for. I hope I can still find a photo of us in that setting, but that would mean sorting through my mother’s pile of photo albums

Anyways, now that the first half is complete, I can’t wait to start building the second half of the book nook and see the entire scene come to life - but first, WORK!

Looking forward to sharing another update once it’s finished!

First of all, congratulations on your win. This looks like a very interesting build. I believe that @Orangesareus has done this one as well…because I think she shared the story of the underground city. It was quite interesting to me.

Thank you! It really is! I can’t wait to finish it and share the final result!

Thank you so much! I can’t wait to finish it either.

I can only assume why you’d say it’s a bit sad after watching a documentary—it has changed so much over the years. The last time I was there for a day and it just felt so different. But, Kowloon will always have a special place in my heart because it’s such a big part of my childhood.

Thank you very much @Minus_88

Thank you @Grey74 . I actually have a couple of kits with the same brand that just arrived.

Thank you @ThaoNguyen … I also hope Robotime can create more kits with an Asian vibe … like Korea and the Philippines, not just Japan and China (although I love those, too)

Thank you so much! I’m really enjoying this build so far. Twilight of the Warriors sounds really interesting. I’ll have to see if I can find it to watch—I just hope it has English subtitles or an English dub!

Yes, that’s right. I hope too

This kit would be even nicer if all the elements weren’t so flat; I don’t know what brand it is—I’d never seen it before.

Hi @Gidge I just meant sad as the walled city was all pulled down. It seemed as though there were immense problems with the density and infrastructure but at the same time an amazing community x

I agree—it would be nice if some of the elements had a bit more depth. I think it’s meant to be more of a 3D puzzle than a traditional scale model.
