Finally finished Classic Carousel for the r/booknooks subreddit Robotime Event - it was super fun and I love those challenges.

I was hesitant to change the colors on this one, because I think @Robotime hit it out of the park with the design and colors on this one - the red and white canopy was especially gorgeous and vibrant. But I had in my mind the classic MacKenzie-Childs look of black and white with metallic touches. So black, white and gold it was!
The canopy is covered in glitter adhesive vinyl - I just stuck the pieces to the vinyl and used a craft knife to cut away the excess.
To cover the round base, I found a mandala pattern in Cricut Design Center, and used black, white and gold vinyl to create a layered look. I also took the brown flexible paper pieces that covered the base, turned them around, spray painted them black, and the added flourishes I cut with the Cricut (I just got a new Cricut in February and I’m still learning how to use it, but I’m excited to cut more embellishments in future projects!).
Painting the horses was TEDIOUS!
They took a long time, and I am sad that I lost a lot of the detail that @Robotime thoughtfully included in their saddles and reins. But I added faux flatback pearls and flatback rhinestones in black and the color “metallic sunlight.”
I also added pearls and rhinestones to the fence, the mandala and the various light panels at the top.
All in all, this took a long time despite being a fairly simple build. But the end result is beautiful and it’s just gorgeous lit up at night. I now want ALL of the amusement park rides!
