Even if it’s all 2D parts, and the fact that I need to use glue most of the time to secure mostly loose parts, this is somehow helping me with my “builder’s block”.
Having had history of pushing my limits, I’m learning also that it’s OK to pull back. It’s usually the pulling back that refills my empty creative jar.
These days, I’ve been doing a lot of hiking to prepare for next year’s adventure trek in Nepal (Everest base camp). I find that the outdoors and exercise are very important to my well-being.
That’s a photo of my husband when we hiked at Lake Winnemucca in Lake Tahoe last weekend.
Very cool!! You’re such an adventurous person!! To get back out of a rut I choose other hobbies. Right now it’s gonna be 3d printing. Just got a printer and I’m messing with it right now. But otherwise it’s focusing more on me. Going out and being social more. More focusing on the needs of the house lol. Record collecting. I was in a bad way last year and needed something to bring me up and thankfully this current hobby brought me out of it! Haven’t looked back since.
@mchipman this was such a thoughtful reflection on stepping back when creativity feels tired. The Egyptian colors, the travel memory, and your note about hiking all make the post feel like a real reset rather than just a build update. Wishing you gentle momentum as that creative jar fills back up.
Egypt - wow!
Lake Tahoe - wow!
Everest - wow wow wow! I admire you for this!
I think we all do experience a “dark” moment in our creativity. I feel that whatever I try to do, it wouldnt turn out the way I want it to or simply no idea was coming in my head.
I take a break and try to do other hobbies like reading or cleaning the house (is this a hobby? )
This is a really nice kit. I love to see your progress on it. And sometimes we need to hit the reset button to spark our creativity again. I’m sure you will be there again in no time
Putting my headphones on and listening to music is a great de-stressor for me. If I pair that with kit building, it’s pure bliss.
I’m pleased that you’re enjoying this build and it’s helping your creative flow begin again. I love seeing your creative endeavours.
