Figured it was time I stopped lurking and actually introduced myself

Hey everyone :waving_hand:
Figured it was time I stopped lurking and actually introduced myself.

I’m Mingche, 23, from Yancheng, a coastal city near Shanghai. It’s surrounded by national parks, wetlands, forests, and the sea. Basically, if you like nature and quiet moments, it’s a great place. If you like traffic jams and skyscrapers, maybe not.

This church is just a short walk from my home

I joined the Robotime team back in September 2025, and honestly, one of the best surprises has been this community.

Whether I’m writing personal stories, putting together the weekly, or chatting with you all in the Facebook group, the support here feels very real. People cheer each other on, share progress, and somehow make the internet feel a little less like the internet.

Thank you Jerry and everyone here~ :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:(I’d only been at Robotime for less than two weeks then. Your encouragement really meant a lot and made me feel like I could keep being here with everyone.)

Before Robotime, I interned at the United Nations. I worked on projects like clean water solutions and solar panels for parts of Africa, and explored sustainability ideas with teammates from Southeast Asia and Northern Europe. It was meaningful work.

But life back then sometimes felt like living in a very big, very quiet house. Impressive, yes. Cozy, not so much.

Here, it feels more like one of our miniature houses. Smaller, warmer, and way easier to feel at home in.

Like a lot of you, I found my own kind of therapy through crafting.
Before this, my favorite hobby was going to museums. I could stand in front of one artifact forever, imagining who used it, what kind of life they lived, and how something so ordinary could carry so much meaning.

Now I do something similar, except I build the tiny world myself.

Outside of work, I’m fairly easygoing. I play keyboard in a band with @Jiaming_Zhang and a few other colleagues.

I like gaming (possibly more than I should), and our department recently won the company-wide gaming tournament, which we’re still quietly proud of. We also play badminton together almost every week, which is a good reminder that teamwork doesn’t stop when the screen turns off.

One last thing about me. I’m mildly obsessed with history and geography.
If you ever have questions about Chinese culture, feel free to tag me. If I see it, I’ll probably get a little too excited replying.

Really glad to be here with all of you.
Not just as part of Robotime, but as someone who genuinely enjoys hanging out in this community :orange_heart:

Thanks a lot for introducing yourself and sharing your heartwarming story! It’s really nice to virtually meet you, Mingche. Could you give us a hint on how to correctly pronounce your name?

Thanks a lot for introducing yourself. That great story

It is great to know you better. I think we have met through zoom meeting back in November. It is love to know what you do outside of company commitment. :+1:

Hello! It’s lovely to meet you~ though I’ve actually been familiar with you for several months haha.
My Chinese name is pronounced “meeng-chuh.” It describes something utterly pure and immaculate, a concept drawn from a Buddhist text.

Hi Jerry! I’d love for you to visit China with your family if you ever get the chance. I’m very familiar with the areas around Shanghai, and if you come, I can even gather my team to be your guides haha!

Wow, Tricia — you have such a great memory! Back then, the team was just Simon and me. We were nervous but kept asking ourselves, “Why not host a global meetup?”
Thankfully, you, Jill, and Tina were the first to make it happen. Looking back now, it truly feels like the beginning of something wonderful.

It’s actually an after-work event hosted by our company, and the game is a MOBA called Honor of Kings.
On Steam, I’m more into strategy and puzzle games.

So you’re a pure person, sounds about right!

Uhhh… Interesting :stuck_out_tongue:
