The base is really coming together. I love watching these kits build layer by layer—you can see how thoughtfully it’s designed. The finished base with the mirrors is beautiful, and I decided to add gold edging to the wooden pieces that make up the center column and the cutout where the mirror goes. It was just a marker, easy to apply, and it really helps reflect the light and draw your eye to that detail.
Now for the horses. Look at all the pieces that go into just two of them. Each horse is built in parts—body, head, and tail—and then assembled around the carousel posts. There are nine horses total, so I’m tackling them in pairs to keep the painting consistent. These first two are done, and I’m really happy with how they turned out. The detail work on these horses is stunning—I painted the pieces to match the design details on each one, and they look so polished and finished.
You might notice a tiny alphabet letter on the horses in the photos—that’s printed on by the manufacturer so each horse goes in its proper place on the base.
More horses to come.

It’s looking super beautiful, Kim! I love how detailed everything is, especially the horses… they turned out amazing! Can’t wait to build this kit myself too
Hi Kim_Kieffer, your idea to add gold edging with a marker is absolutely genius! It catches the light so beautifully against those mirrors and really elevates the whole design. I am so impressed by your patience with painting all those horses in pairs, they look incredibly polished!
