Hi guys! Here’s what I’ve been slowly chipping away at whenever I get a bit of time, which hasn’t been very often lately. I personally really like the checkerboard floor design but since I’ve decided to remove the orange walls, the red tiles will have to go too.
I printed a wooden board design on paper and cut it into squares for the floor. Now because I have a bit of OCD and perfectionist tendencies, I tried really hard to align everything neatly. The wood grain pattern runs horizontally on some tiles and vertically on others and I alternated the direction across the whole checkerboard floor.
Work in progress! I left some of the original tiles since I was getting a bit lazy and knew they wouldn’t be seen anyway. Once the glue dries, I’ll carefully trim the edges.
And here’s what I’ve decided to replace the orange walls with. I think I’ll go for a blue and white theme and this origami paper I bought a while ago came in handy! It’s not quite big enough to cover the walls completely but since most of the paper will be hidden by furniture, I can easily hide the edges where two pieces meet.
I’m too lazy to paint so I just pasted two layers of white paper on the wall and called it a day. I’ll be using my own customised printouts so I didn’t mind cutting off some of the original art.
Last but not least, here are my customised printouts! I was looking for art related to a bar. The Van Gogh pieces were a last minute inspiration from all the Starry Night builds I’ve been seeing here on the community.
WOW! I am loving all of your changes. There should never be red floor tiles with orange walls…LOL! I can’t wait to see what other changes you come up with. It’s going to be fabulous. That ‘wallpaper’ is top notch!
Wow Jade!! What can I say? Your attention to detail is top notch. I can’t believe you replaced all the red tiles individually!
Living your origami paper for the walls too. And your art is inspired!
I’m am really looking forward to the finished product.
Look at you! This is so cool. I painted mine and sponged walls. I had not thought back then to cut out a floor or wall. You did fantastic here! well done @JDisaduck
Hahaha to be fair those are really cozy colours but when I unboxed the kit they burned my eyes so I had to change them. I think I’m done with most of the customisation yay!
I’m always finding time to build behind the scenes hahaha the addiction is real! Thanks! I’m done for the most part, so it’s all the building and assembling left now!
