[Challenge & Achievement] Yessss, a Japanese kit from Rolife 💖 9.0 complete

Hi there! :dango:

The time has come to wrap up this kit. I’ve shared several posts about it—and it truly deserves the attention.

Ever since I joined the community, I’ve said a thousand times that Rolife should release Japanese-style kits—and finally, they have!
The pagoda is nice, but it’s not quite the same.
None of the previous kits I’ve built compare to this one; it has the most detail.

It has an interior light and an exterior light.
It is a very warm light and looks great; you can see all the sweets.

As I already mentioned, it’s a DIY-style kit! You have to build a huge part of it yourself, so you really have to enjoy that sort of thing, haha.

Personally, I’ve enjoyed it because it brings back memories of my trips to Japan, and—as I’ve been showing you—these are sweets that actually exist in real life.

But it is true—or at least I seem to recall—that the box doesn’t specify that it’s a DIY kit.

I love that they even thought about the kanji and the authentic background! This symbol indicates that kakigori is sold here—a traditional treat made with shaved ice; it’s delicious and refreshing for the summer. :shaved_ice:

I really like this part; it has so many details—like sweets, a fan, boxes, a wind chime, signs, two hand fans, and so on.
But there’s a gap in the back; I would have liked a cash register or some kind of old machine with a few yen coins!

I love that they’ve even taken into account how huge the passion for gacha machines is in Japan!
I’m the first one to spend my yen on them—haha—when I’m in Japan.

The detail on the fan is amazing—and get this: if you blow on it, the blades spin!

The display is wonderful—so many types of sweets—and you can see the little kitten in the back! I love that they’ve thought of everything; you can tell it’s a kit put together with care.

It’s a kit that opens in several areas; the side features two sliding doors—very Japanese style. I love that detail—being able to open whichever door I want.

And looking out and seeing everything is like, wow, it’s like I’m being welcome.

Irasshaimase! (いらっしゃいませ

It looks very retro, doesn’t it? Well, the thing is, Japan really is like that—it has lots of areas and shops of that kind.

I also like the back, and I also like that window detail that lets me see the interior.

The other side panel doesn’t open—it’s closed—but it is also decorated.

You can even see the inside from the top!

I didn’t like this; the battery is underneath, so you have to tip the kit over to put the batteries in or take them out, which causes some items—like the hangers, etc.—to fall off.

Since it’s a new kit, I expected it to have a USB or Type-C port; it’s a shame.

As always, I like to mention the positives and negatives at the end, so here goes:

Pros:

  • includes a kitten
  • the sweets are inspired by real products
  • two light points
  • a fantastic retro touch
  • the outer box is great and includes two windows
  • all the sliding doors actually slide
  • you assemble all the products by hand
  • the guide is very comprehensive and includes all the measurements
  • it’s a Japanese kit!
  • I like that it indicates not to throw away the bag
  • the instructions are provided in several languages

Cons:

  • It runs on batteries; I would have preferred USB or USB-C.
  • Some instructions are very dense and complicated; QR codes showing how to do it are missing.
  • Some of the interior wood isn’t very high quality.
  • Some candy bags come open; the tape isn’t sufficient.
  • I would have liked it to include music.
  • I don’t like that the batteries are at the bottom; you have to tip the kit over to change them.

I’m not sure if I missed anything, haha—in that case, check out my previous posts!

I’m truly so grateful to @robotime for this amazing gift. It was exciting to build, and I was so thrilled about it!

I hope this is just the start of many Japanese kits!

As always, here is the video I created for social media! If you’d like to watch it, give it a like, follow me, share it, or leave a comment, I’d really appreciate it! Hehe, I need to grow!

Thanks for reading! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Thanks so much, sweetie!
Yeah, I find the battery system really outdated—plus, the hangers fall off when you tip it over! I really don’t like that system at all. Honestly, I loved it; I recommend getting this kit—you’ll like it!
