After completing the fabulous ROKR Pinball customization build I have been struggling with finding a suitable next build challenge. I enjoy complexity and difficult builds in wood the most. I found an architectural build kit that says if not painted at all the build will take about 40 hours of build time. If painted, painting alone will take 120 hours plus the 40 hours of build time. This most definitely sounds like a nice build challenge
! Have not ordered the kit yet, need to do some research on fine line painting application tips and feed reservoirs first if I choose to go down this kit build route. This is an example of the level of painting the kit says requires 120 hrs before actual construction. Figure the colour mapping across all of the individual components will require several hours of planning as well. In preparation for that initial mapping I have been physically researching real existing architectural marvels containing this style of painting and craftsmanship. Humbles one’s soul thinking about how such stunning forms of architecture was conceived, designed, engineered and construction going back a thousand years or so by people who not only dreamt it, they figured out the puzzle build sequences. As always, enjoy your builds no matter which kit anyone is doing
Hi @Joe-K, that sounds like a wonderfully ambitious next challenge. The research into fine line painting and real architectural references already feels like part of the build, and we love seeing that much patience go into the planning stage.
Holy wow, this looks so intense and wonderful. I’m kinda jealous of this kind of dedication. I can’t wait to see progress on this. I’m cheering you on!
Thanks. Planning is the key ! This one will take me many hours of execution planning long before ever starting the actual first build steps. It’s the same for when I build ROKR, planning reading the manual looking at the components on each board.
The colors are amazing. I really have to give it to you to make research before starting another kit. I’m too lazy to do that.
I’m excited to see what’s next!
