I recently finished this beautiful kit, and I have to say, this little toy shop has A LOT going on!
First, I would like to sincerely thank Robotime for giving me the opportunity to experience and review this beautiful kit. It was such a pleasure to build, and I’m excited to share my thoughts and experience with the community!
Joy Toys sits nicely in that middle ground where it feels substantial enough to be satisfying, without becoming one of those projects that completely takes over your crafting table for weeks.
Well… almost.
I started building this kit on September 5, and yes, it definitely became a little crafting-table resident. This was also my first time working with a sheet of wooden pieces that went all the way up to letter T.
Yes… T! 
What I Love About This Kit:
1. The Details
There are so many little things to discover in Joy Toys. Teddy bears, horses, the carousel, miniature toys, displays, the candy machine, and of course, the Ferris wheel.
The more closely you look, the more details you notice.
The storefront really feels like a tiny toy shop rather than simply a miniature room. There is so much packed into the scene that I found myself repeatedly looking around and discovering something I hadn’t noticed before.
It’s basically a tiny version of:
“Oh, that’s cute!”
leans closer
“WAIT… there’s another tiny toy back there!”
2. The Color Combination
I really love the combination of red, blue, cream, and darker accents.
The deep red storefront gives it that lovely vintage toy-shop feeling, while the blue floor adds a playful contrast. It has a slightly nostalgic look without feeling too old-fashioned.
The official design describes the kit as having an American retro-inspired toy-shop style, and I think that comes through beautifully in the finished model.
The colors also help all those tiny details stand out without making the whole scene feel too busy.
3. The Lighting
The lighting really changes the personality of this build.
During the day, you can appreciate all the little details, colors, and decorations. But turn the lights on and suddenly the shop feels like it’s still open after dark. 
I particularly like the contrast between the warmer shop lighting and the blue lighting around the Ferris-wheel area. It gives the scene a completely different atmosphere.
4. The Opening Storefront
Another feature I really appreciate is the opening storefront/door.
It makes the finished piece feel a little more interactive and gives you better access to the interior.
And honestly, with this many tiny details inside, being able to get closer is a big plus.
A Few Honest Thoughts
~ There Is A LOT Happening in a Small Space
This is both a positive and a negative.
The packed interior is what makes Joy Toys so charming, but it also means some of the smaller details can be difficult to appreciate from a distance.
You really need to get close to see everything.
Personally, I don’t consider this a major problem because discovering all those tiny details is part of the fun. But if you prefer a more open and spacious miniature scene, this one may feel a little busy.
~ Take Your Time With the Smaller Pieces
Although the official assembly estimate is around eight hours, everyone’s building speed will obviously be different.
For me, this was definitely not a kit I wanted to rush.
There are a lot of small components and decorative details, so taking your time will make the experience much more enjoyable.
~ The Clear Panels Need Some Care
Because so much of the interior is visible through the storefront, fingerprints, dust, or small marks on the clear panels can become surprisingly noticeable.
I would definitely recommend giving those areas a careful clean before considering the build completely finished.
After spending hours carefully building all those tiny details, the last thing you want is one giant fingerprint becoming the star of the show. 
Would I Recommend It?
Yes. 
There is something really satisfying about seeing all those individual pieces come together to create a tiny, colorful toy shop that feels like it has its own little story.
