Hmmmm thinner wires can be much harder to handle. Maybe tweezers or scalpel could help a bit? And going really gently. Those ones are so easy to damage! 
Gentle is not in my vocabulary! ahahaha
I actually give up and designated my husband as the official Lights assemblyman 
. I just need him to be available asap.. ahahha
