Update 04: Alice's Dreamy Bedroom: Why oh why?

Why oh why does it have to be so hard to do this wiring? I always end up cutting the wire! I’m afraid I will eventually run out because 98% of my attempts to get the wire out failed. Do you have any tips that can make this easier?

And so I decided to take a break from this and try to finish building when I noticed a mark on the wall. I think it was from a pencil, tried to use an eraser (I know, i know it wasnt a good idea).. but it got worst! Waahh, it means I have to repaint that part. Gosh.

Today is not a good day to build so I better put it off and just continue after my vacation.

Thanks in advance for the tips.

Oh NO! I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling with this. I wish I had some advice to give…but I don’t. Wishing you much luck

waahh! This is the part that I dont like about older kits tbh. waahhh

For my book nooks from another brand I needed to strip the lighting wires too to get to them. I also cut through them accidentally a few times. But mostly I got it done by just giving a little slip with a crafting knife and then to pull it off with my fingers, but with enough force. I just avoided to do too much with scissors and the knife.

It’s a shame to hear that. In my opinion, you could use a knife to lightly cut the plastic wire and then pull it off.

I’m sorry you’re struggling. I hope the build goes more smoothly from now on.

Wiring is my fear.. so before I start any wiring I make sure I’m in the right frame of mind and go very slowly and carefully.

You can try not cutting the outer rubber sleeve; just pull the rubber part directly by hand.

Im sorry your struggling, perhaps @CustomerService can help out?

Oh, I haven’t assembled any kit like that, I can’t help you.

Oh no! Sadly I can’t give you a lot of tips either  I hope some of the tips others are given you can help you fix this!

i agree. it’s such a nightmare.

i tried but it wont work. the wires are too thin and I’m afraid im gonna run short..:sad_but_relieved_face:

the stripping part is the hardest

I don’t really know how to explain this very well, but I work with these wires a lot because I do a lot of older kits. But if you take a pair of side cutters, and just lightly close them on the wire, there is a point where they will only cut the rubber and not the wire! I use the side cutting part of wire strippers for this because all the actual wire stripper holes are too big for these wires. It’s definitely something that takes practice, but once you figure it out and get the feel for how much pressure you need, stripping these are never a problem again! My husbands an electrician and showed me lol. I could maybe try and post a video later.
