Twilight Sakura Path Complete

The wind blows so slightly only to create a breeze that gently gathers the cherry blossoms and scatters them across the path and to lay gently upon the surrounding buildings and paths. The citizens of the city walk around on their business, somewhat aware of the beauty that surrounds them, but still involved in their own worlds. Cats in their own way consider different paths to their journey upon the rooftops. The local dragons seem to act as neighborhood pets, or guardians of the city rather than the creatures of destruction and terror they are known for.

I present my version of the Twilight Sakura Path by Cutebee. This one took about three weeks of building, mostly some weekends and after work. I am beyond words to tell you how amazed I am at how this one came out.

The kit is rated as a 5 star difficulty, and it earns that rating easily. This is not a kit for beginner’s and you should have a couple under your belt before attempting this lol . I hope you stay to read and not just skip to the pictures because this kit has become my favorite build ever. So lets start:

The Pros:

The scene is stunning in itself, the buildings and main center grabs your eye and gives you a sense of wonder of it all. There are so many small details to pay attention to and make you ask what could be going on in here?

The lighting… I mean come on… this one seals the kit as a favorite of mine. The lights are recessed to allow shadows to fall and give depth to the scene. Not harsh but the twilight time of day makes the stunning ambiance shine through.

The buildings are well thought out and proportionately ratioed. Very nicely colored pieces allow for you to really sink yourself into the world created here.

The Cons:

Not sure if this is a con rather than an observation on my party lol. The pieces are very fragile and small. I havent ever encountered a kit with this fragility ever. I was using my knife to cut out each piece which added to time, but even still managed to crack quite a few pieces. Luckily there are plenty of extras!

The pieces fit so tightly together! I found myself waxing every single piece to make sure they fit correctly. I havent used this much wax since my last ROKR build. I also had to employ my hammer to ensure they stayed where they belong, which led to another heart attack everytime. The pieces being so fragile!!

The layout is amazing but, again just an observation. The different display modes on this make it difficult to transition between them. To display as a book nook, you must close the sides up, put the top back on, the front cover and the dust protector. To display opened, all the previous steps have to be taken in reverse order… ugh.. I plan on leaving it open cause honestly that is how this should be displayed!!

Modifications:

obviously all the edge coloring!! I also employed my furniture markers including my new gray ones which matched the stone perfectly! I am really impressed on how these furniture markers worked on this kit.

The kit had an extra cat, which you know I couldnt just leave .. so I cut him out and added him to the other side of the kit. Which worked out because it looks like he is looking at the birds flying!

I added the cherry blossom flocking to the tree and surrounding areas. Had to special order it as i wanted this to really be a significant visual feature. Too bad they dont come in smaller sizes, but now I got a bunch left over lol.

Are you surprised I havent put a meme in here yet? yeah, me too..

Overall this kit is easily 9.2 out of 10. difficulty and structure issues dropped it. I would suggest that you experienced crafters to grab this one. Hopefully you will love it as much as I did. there you made it. Thank you for reading this and following along with me on this journey. Your support helps so much to me and others who you graciously give it to!!

The pics of the nook closed are just for visual lol. I didn’t want to mess with it, to close it then open it up. Treating this thing like glass lol

Oh my! I just now noticed that you may have installed walls upside down from that first picture. How did that happen, if I am correct?

It wasn’t in place. I had only put it there to show what it looks like but you’re right it is upside down lol. Glad I don’t have it on there that way lol

I was a bit confused because the finished pics show the model open…I was like WHAT?

@Robotime Thank you for your kind words!

@Grey74 bsolute genius touch placing that extra cat on the other side so it’s watching the birds!:sparkles: The cherry blossom flocking looks completely worth the special order—it makes the whole scene pop so beautifully. And don’t worry, having leftover craft supplies is just an excuse for the next build, right? I hate fragile pieices as carefull as i go oops snap ! It looks fantastic ! :+1::+1::+1:
