I’m most thankful this year for my uncle, who is also my godfather. He would often babysit me 50 years ago, and has been a steady and constant presence in my life ever since then - always supportive and kind and encouraging, especially about my crafty endeavors.
This year I made a personalized version of Silent Corner for him to look like his law office. He is retiring this year after a long and successful career. I’m so grateful for his constant and steady presence in our family - hosting all the important holiday gatherings and serving as the unflappable rock amid life’s storms. I could not be more proud to be his niece.
(I’ve redacted the personal photos I included on the Silent Corner shelves - they are many!)
What a wonderful story and it seems that you have created a personal momento for him. What a wonderful gift! You are fortunate to have had such a wonderful influence in your life.
Beautiful tribute to your Uncle! I am glad to see he remains a constant in your life. As we age it can be easy to let other things interfere with relationships. I am glad to see you remained so close!
You did a great job on this build! I’m sure he’ll love it! It’s nice when you can find builds that can relate to real life, it’s makes them so much more meaningful!
Thank you so much! Yes, I’m trying to be more intentional about positivity and counting my blessings - so this was a wonderful exercise! It’s so fun to give our creations away, too, right? I’m excited for Christmas Eve and his reaction.
Isn’t that true?! Relationships do take investment and work sometimes, especially across the miles. But it’s so precious to feel “known” by someone who has witnessed so many phases of your life - and has loved you throughout the good and bad.
