Sunshine town book nook finished but…

Hi there!

After having spent many evening on this model after work, many times hardly when I had almost broken pieces (happily, glue exists!) and despite my clumsiness , I have finally succeeded in building the sunshine town book nook yesterday!

It is really sweet and I really enjoy the illumination.

BUT (usually a but for me!), I could’nt bend the cables properly at 90 degrees in the yellow tubing upon the stairs as indicated in the notice. At a result, when I want to turn on the lights, two lights function perfectly except the bended one which, sometimes, doesn’t want to work if I touch it or move the book nook. I must press a little on the light bulb and in a right position to make it work. And, as soon as it lights up, I stop touching it. And I haven’t dared to bend it more because I didn’t want to break it.

Has anyone else encountered the same kind of problem for this kit or another one?

Thanks in advance for your kind replies and tips :folded_hands:.

When it wants to work …

Or not after touched the bulb.

I think @JDisaduck has already built it and can give you an advice or help.

Aww, I’m sorry you’re facing this issue. I didn’t really have any problems when I built mine so I’m not sure how much I can help. The only difference I can see is that your wire is a lot shorter than mine, which might be the reason why the light is intermittent, like it’s an incomplete circuit?

I couldn’t really make mine stay at 90 degrees either, but the wire is much longer, so I’m sure the ?pins aren’t bent. I hope that makes sense. If you can try to extend it, it might work, but I think it will be hard to adjust. Sorry I couldn’t be more useful.

Your kit looks amazing, thanks for sharing! I love how this kind of kit help us be creative about fixing problems or issues, even if it’s by the power of glue

I haven’t built this one (yet), but I hope someone can properly help you with your wires situation.

Yours has the shape shown in the tutorial contrary to mine. When I tried to heat the yellow tubing with my hairdryer, I couldn’t do more.

When I tried to bend, I first saw the light not working :scream:. I finally could make it work but in those conditions.

So, now, let’s not touch it otherwise I risk to destroy it!

I haven’t built this one yet so I’m not much help to you with the lighting. However, I do like your build a lot.

Aww that sucks! :sob:

It’s now like a phone charger on the verge of breaking lol. It has to be at the right angle to work. :weary_cat:

Power of glue definitely ! I remember to have spent a whole evening just to hold the roof of the tramway Sakura Densya note book with glue otherwise I would have never been able to finish it (a tips for those who never build this model ).

You’re welcome

I think it looks great despite your lighting issues. Well done.

Thanks :+1:

My husband told me that I should have use a lighter so the yellow straw would have retracted quickly (and not my hairdryer).

It looks wonderful regardless of the light position. Well done!

This sunshine town book nook is very nice. But I think I would like kits that have more details.

Yeah a lighter is much easier. But I’ve used a hairdryer before when my lighter ran out. :face_holding_back_tears: Guess these wires are fragile.

@Nan-Si, it looks very pretty!

Thanks
