Start new project: Mechanical Typewriter

The mechanical Typmagine has recently become available for purchase in the Dutch Robotime store. When I saw this, I had to have it immediately. Unfortunately, I don’t live near the store, so it’s difficult to pop in quickly. Luckily, Niels helped me out and bought this kit for me and sent it to me. I am very grateful to him. The Magic Cello will just have to wait a little longer, because this Typmagine will be my next project :grin:

The box is really big and heavy. It is comparable to Pinball Magazine. The box contains many small parts, from plastic keys to screws and springs.

Yes, but there is a note included saying that it might not work perfectly, which is logical because it is made of wood.

Whaaaat?? This is crazy!! I need this!! I need to show my daughter how hard it was to type back in the day and why there must always be a correction liquid at home! :rofl:

That’s so cool!! Even of ot doesn’t type perfectly, just the fact that it works a little bit is already so cool!! :star_struck:

OMG I’m really excited to see your progress on the typewriter! I want to see how it works and if it really can type just like a real typewriter. I would be excited too to work on that. :heart_hands:

I am really very grateful to Niels for being willing to do this for me. I had been waiting for the release of this typewriter for months and it looks really cool. Unfortunately, I am not home this weekend and will only be able to start on it after the weekend.

Haha, I used to play with a typewriter sometimes, but never really had to work with one. I’m very curious how it works when it’s finished.

I hesitated to make it dark green with gold, but there are small gold edges on it and I don’t think it would turn out very nicely. So I’ll stick to painting just the edges. I think black with gold would also be nice.
