Selling completed builds

I’m suppose it might. I’m going to try a car boot sale in a couple of weeks because I still have stuff left over from my rummage sale stuff.

I’ve saw someone online the other day that says she sells her kits for double the cost of the original cost and then rounds it up a bit. I’m pretty sure there isn’t much of a market for it here.

I agree Jo. Many of the people who stopped to look and admire were astounded that I had made them.

Oh, I definitely build for the enjoyment but having limited space means I am looking for other avenues put my builds. Since I was doing the rummage sale anyway, I took my builds along to test the waters.

That’s too funny! I would never try somewhere like marketplace but I thought speaking to people face to face was a better way of selling.

I hear you on the handmade things. I had a niece ask me how much I would want to make a quilt from her daughter’s clothing. When I calculated the cost of materials and then threw in a bit in top to cover time, she baulked and told me not to bother. And I was undercharging her lol

I’m fearing the same thing here Jill. Nobody wants to pay for something like this.

Yeah, I highly doubt the market would support many people doing it.

I’ve seen some on marketplace - when I was browsing marketplace I found a completed Garden House on the GC for $35! So it would seem that there is not such a strong market for completed kits.

Yeah it’s a shame that people just think everything is cheap or that because you are a friend or a relative you would do it for free

I think possibly a craft fair or even selling them online on a craft marketplace like Etsy might be the best idea, unfortunately I think Etsy take quite a big cut of money

You are absolutely correct! It’s sad that people don’t understand this. @Nic_Ozz

I have heard the same. People are not making money on these and certainly lose on the labor. luckily that is one of our favorite parts!

I’ve come to that conclusion, although I’ll try again. But I took my models that I wish to sell and put them in the storage shed for the time being.

Yes, I’ve seen them quite cheap on FB marketplace as well. But I thought I could try it anyway.

It kinda sucks really.

I would have thought that seeing them in person would be even more compelling! It was absolutely worth a try .

I think people just aren’t buying as much at the moment, even second hand. I’ve been trying to sell things that are new in box for a fraction of their cost, and not seeing much interest.

I did well on the rummage sale but it was all the cheap things that sold first. I did sell one to someone but it was $10 under my cost.

I really am glad that the rummage sale part went so well. I think with things like marketplace etc, it’s less compelling when people can’t look closely at something. Being able to pick it up and look it over makes a difference. I might need to find out whether there are any rummage or car boot sales events near me :face_with_monocle:

I do not disagree. Hard to understand the value if you do not do this.
