I just finished Emily‘s flower shop and boy, I had to think outside the box with a few elements in this kit.
Unbeknownst to me, the flower shop sign slid down last night (I used B700 glue) and I couldn’t get it back up to the right position above the doorway without tearing the sign so I just left it as is.
Just like what I did with Cathy’s flower house, I didn’t bother putting a lot of plants on the floor. Just like in real life, I hate clutter. So I just rearranged the plants and flowers according to my taste.
Here’s what I learned: It’s definitely far from perfect but building this helped me with being resourceful and learning how to let go and just be messy and creative. This is what art (and life) should be all about.
Oh you’ve done a wonderful job @mchipman, it looks really beautiful. I’m working on this one too but I have the old kit. It’s interesting to see the things they have changed. I am the same as you with clutter so I’m trying to work out a new floor plan
We need to put something of ourselves in our art. And even if these are pre-prepared kits, we are still creating art.
I think what you’ve created is lovely and reflects your personality.
Your kit looks truly beautiful! And you’ve definitely been so original, resourceful and thoughtful, you should be proud of yourself. You’ve made the kit your own and you’ve overcome problems with amazing and out-of-the-box ideas. Your kit is definitely unique in an amazing way
I think it turned out beautiful! I love your cactus and all your personal changes!
I agree with you! I’m a perfectionist but working on these kits have allowed me to chill a little. I’ve learned to slowly let go and not be so harsh on myself.
@mchipman
I think your conclusions are very true. Nothing is ever perfect and we notice more than others. Does that clay dry and harden? If not, maybe cut some V’s in there like cactus layers? Unless it doesnt show much. I like this idea better than paper one though for sure. I have not really worked with that yet but it seems like a great idea!
