I won this kit in the New Year contest - thanks again to Rolife for being so amazing and giving us all of these creative opportunities simply for participating in this community. What a blessing!
I grew up spending summers in the shadow of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute where Bob Ballard sited his Titanic research - so as a Titanic-obsessed kid, I loved this one!
My biggest challenges were the hull (lots of bending very thin and flexible balsa) and the rigging. I tend to have a heavy hand sometimes, and slow and careful is the course with thin balsa!
Amazing and beautiful, thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed this build, although I agree that the huge amount of tiny little details on decks were a bit overwhelming.
True - the small room isn’t to the correct scale, so it does look a little off. I do like the glimpse into a stateroom, though. It is a great kit and that must look enchanting at night!
Eternal Atlantic Voyager 3D puzzle’s assembled dimensions are approximately 49.5 cm (Length) x 8.5 cm (Width) x 18.4 cm (Height), or about 19.5 x 3.35 x 7.24 inches, making it a detailed display model of the Titanic with an open cabin and LED lights.
What a special connection too, growing up near Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and knowing about Robert Ballard’s Titanic research makes this build even more meaningful. No wonder it was a favorite for you!
It sounds like you handled it beautifully. And yes, these models glowing at night make all that careful work worth it
