What can I say, I’m really easily distracted and therefore I’m terrible for having multiple projects on the go at one time - I’m amazed at how quickly everyone in here completed a kit meanwhile I’m still working through my first rolife kit……..
But I also have an incredibly big crochet project on the go at the moment that I’m about a 3rd of the way through
And I really wanted to take part in the Rokr fall build festival over on Reddit so I have now started my magic cello kit - I have actually managed to work through quite a lot of it and now I’ve discovered I messed up real bad and the little plastic beads on the metal poles are so tight that I don’t think I can get it apart to fix it - I might have to brandish a saw tomorrow in order to just shorten one of the metal poles I’m sure I’ll get there somehow
But anyway, this is my progress so far - and a very basic unboxing video because I don’t really do unboxing videos and I’ll never be a content creator
Haha Thankyou, luckily I’ve got enough metal rods spare and I can’t see anywhere else that I need to use any that I think it should be ok to saw 5mm off the one that I’ve put in that’s the wrong length
I can say that I’m impressed that you are working on a Rokr as your first kit. I’m still afraid of the gears and all the screws. lol. Your video looks absolutely great, don’t be to hard on yourself
You’re quite brave to tackle multiple projects at once! I would surely struggle Your Magic Cello is coming along beautifully though! Hopefully the little beads cooperate and you can avoid having to bring out the saw! Good luck with the build!
What? There are beads involved in this? I have it in my stash for a future customised colour project, so I will have to take a look in the manual to get a better understanding of the purpose of these beads. Thanks for the warning from what you have experienced.
I think they essentially do the same job as a nut would if it was screwed onto a bolt - but instead these just slide on (with great tightness) to metal poles and are then virtually impossible to slide back off again - well at least they are when there are multiple slid onto the same pole in between gears, etc
My best advice is make sure you pay attention to whether you are meant to be using a 30 mm metal rod or a 25 mm metal rod - and tbf I was actually measuring all of mine against the guide on the instructions - I don’t know how this one slipped by

Ahhh I know the ones you are talking about. Small flat plastic circle with a holin the middle. I had to remove a couple of doubled up ones from a build and had success with using the miniature flat screw driver under it to prise it up enough to make enough room to then use the tip of my needle nose pliers to grip them.

@chamelionboy yes, that’s the ones - I did try with my needle nose pliers and ended up chipping a tiny bit of plastic off it, the flat head screwdriver might be an idea though to get underneath or I’ll at least keep that in mind for the future (though hopefully I won’t make the same mistake again on a future build )
It’s amazing the valuable and sometimes painful or timesoncuming lessons you learn from making mistakes. On the flip side, my mistakes have taught me some creative ways to fix things.
I am wondering if you could slide something like a butterknife under, apply a bit of wax? and maybe a needle-nose pliers to pull? maybe cold to contract metal? Idk, the hacksaw sounds a bit harsh LOL
