This one was an absolute joy to build from start to finish. Everything came together beautifully and the overall construction experience was one of the most enjoyable I've had.
One of my favorite details is the cardboard that mimics a metal roof. It's a small thing but it adds so much character. The cherry blossoms scattered throughout are lovely too, just enough here and there to give it that soft sakura feel without being overdone.
The lights were not difficult to install, but I will say there was absolutely no slack in the wiring. If you're building this kit, I'd strongly suggest working all your slack downward as you go. The little white light on the left is a two-part plastic piece, and in hindsight I wish I had positioned it just slightly higher. Even another millimeter or two would have made the wiring a little easier to manage. The light effect at the bar in the back is a really neat touch and well worth the effort.
I also made a small placement decision with the cat figure. The kit suggests a specific spot, but I thought it looked more interesting up front, so that's where it lives now. Sometimes you just have to go with what feels right.
There is no dust cover with this kit, but honestly the design doesn't really lend itself to one anyway. I have a display box and this one will likely go in it. One thing I really liked is the little planter that extends from the front of the build. It's a charming detail on its own, but it also doubles as the housing for the touch sensor, which is a clever and fun design choice.
Project 71 is definitely one of my favorites. Rolife did a wonderful job with this one.
I really love the cherry blossoms booknook series of Rolife. It’s really pretty and I like the idea that you’ve put the cat at the front. It makes the cat more visible.
I confess to not having this in my stash because I thought it looked a little boring. Thanks for your up close and personal review. It is really quite nice and I may have to out it in my wish list.
While I still prefer wooden puzzles and mechanical builds, one thing I do like about the Miniature House concept is that it gives you some freedom on whether to place some of the pieces.
I absolutely adore this one and I’m hoping to get it one day when it goes on sale.
Thank you for your beautiful review and I must say I agree with you. The little planter box at the front is a nice touch. I think it adds dimension to the kit.
Due that lighting I thought you paint the frame light blue And make me realise that look super cute as well But its not a case and i love how turn out. This one is still in front of me and can’t wait to assemble.
The spot for cat is actually up to us builders and it think you choose nicely the place thanks to this he is proud owner of the alley (as the cat’s rule’s the world )
