Pro-Tip: Small parts ID after painting made easier

Have read many comments and questions from members on how do you keep small parts organized after removing from a board, worse if they get painted and are not used for days or even weeks later. Many smaller parts simply do not have a manufacture number burned into them based on size and it can lead to stress and confusion during one’s build.

How I keep mine organized is this, save the board or cut off the board area with the number and part shape and keep them with the small parts after painting. Also I never throw away a zip seal bag, they are constantly re-purposed from build to build for further organizing all of the painted parts.

Cheers to all the builders out there !

Yep! I do the same thing . Good call

Great tip! I tend to keep all of my parts in the board until I need them but I can understand the confusion when they have been removed for painting.

That’s such a simple but incredibly useful tip!

Thanks for the tip. I usually line them up by number but ome clumsy move sends everything flying and it becomes a huge mess

This is such a great tip!! I usually try to keep them on the board for fear of misplacing a piece. I may just have to try this!! Thanks for sharing

I usually mark the small pieces with a pencil, then just erase the marks when I need to use them.

thank for sharing your tips

I think i saw this on facebook lol

je fais de même ! top

I do the same. And I never throw anything!
Great tip @Joe-K ! Thanks for sharing!

I only removed the parts from the board that I need for that exact moment in time. But I do imagine that if someone’s customising and doing some major painting that it is easier to try and do all of the painting in bulk, so this is a great idea for keeping track.

Great advice! Thanks.

That’s a very good idea :+1:t2:

Good idea , happy building !

@Joe-K now that’s a great tip thank you :grinning_face:

Such a helpful tip! I love the idea of keeping the labeled board pieces with the small parts, especially after painting. And reusing the zip bags is such a simple but effective way to stay organized. Definitely going to keep this in mind!

I do the same thing! It definitely helps on kits with a lot of small pieces.

Great tip! this is my worry about painting with proper hobby paint, not just pens that I can apply to the edges as I go.

Great tip! Thank you
