Do not lose your mind. sand lightly in as many areas as possible. Paint a coat and let dry completely. I found the liquid acrylic worked better than markers. My markers were a bit watery for this.

The fabric will also look very nice, it will be difficult to cover. but you have so much experience that it will surely turn out fine.
