Today’s mail delivery brought two heavy hitters: Super CreatorHello Kitty Convenience Store and Cinnamoroll Coffee Shop. My ausome 7-year-old daughter absolutely crushed the Hello Kitty build all afternoon.
But when the sun went down and the “Closed” sign had to go up for sleep? Absolute chaos.
She might have the communication skills of a 2-year-old, but her “Cinnamoroll Meltdown” was a loud and clear 10/10. Between the tears and the repeated “Open Cinnamoroll please!”, I realized there was only one way to survive the night: The Bedtime Peace Treaty.
The deal? She couldn’t build it, but she could sleep with it.
It was the only thing that worked! She instantly calmed down, finished her nighttime routine, and is currently tucked in with the Cinnamoroll Coffee Shop box literally sharing her pillow. I had to sneakily slide it into the gap between the bed and the wall so she doesn’t get poked by the corner in her sleep!
If she wakes up early in the morning ready to build while eating breakfast, I guess I brought this on myself.
Please send coffee and prayers (mostly coffee). I’ve officially been out-negotiated by a 7-year-old, and I have a feeling the “Grand Opening” of this coffee shop is happening at approximately 5:30 AM. If you don’t hear from me, I’m buried under tiny plastic lattes and Cinnamoroll stickers.
Thank you! It was the absolutely tiring sometimes dealing with meltdowns like this because you need to always be patient but firm. I got a bit used to misdirecting or compromise like what her occupational therapist advices during meltdowns. She’s going to definitely want to work on the Cinnamoroll set as soon as she wakes up. I can 100% guarantee it.
This is the cutest story ever. I don’t envy you the meltdown (been through a few of those with grandchildren) but it’s a great compromise. Sending virtual coffee
Hahaha kids. I think they have a secret meeting to coordinate their energy levels. I’m convinced my daughter is training for a marathon I didn’t sign up for! Glad it’s not just me!
Thank you! I’ll take all the virtual coffee I can get! The meltdowns are definitely the “tax” we pay for the cute stories. Hope your next grandkid visit is meltdown-free.
Thank you! I can’t really tell her no because I understand the “not wanting to stop building kits” part once you get the momentum hahaha The least I could do are compromises like this.
What a delightful story of bedtime creativity and toddler determination! Your daughter’s Hello Kitty build sounds amazing and the Cinnamoroll Meltdown truly captures the passion of little makers. The Bedtime Peace Treaty is a brilliant idea to keep the magic alive and bedtime peaceful.
