Days 7 & and and we still continue on with Fairyland.
The Central support structure is complete and my idea of completely covering it with rocks may not work. There are many parts of it that are nothing more than paper hanging from above, with no strength to support the weight of rocks, so I may need to just stick to the 2 little rock features the model intended.
Then it was time to attach the top and start on the waterfalls.
These consisted of some clear acrylic frames and another water texture sheet and can I say…it was a huge pain in the …you know where I am going with that.
Even sticking the tempates pieces to the water texture sheet, slipping occured as it was being cut and the L-shaped tabs you needed to fold into shape on the texture sheet were out of alighnment with their respective slots on the waterfall frames. Not only that, but they never told you earier not to glue the 2 sides boards on either side of the river all the way to the edge as the water texture is purposefully being cut to require it to be slid under both sides.
Now I am a diligent gluer…and yes I had to use a knife and carely prise ththem both up without damaging the water image or the boards. I did get some minor damage, but it was all able to be covered up.
Then because the waterfalls were slightly out of alignment, I cut off the L-shaped tabs and B7000’d the textures to the frames.
The it was time to put the house and gazebo on top. This was largly issue free thankfully.
Lastly, attach it all to the pond. Something else they didn’t specify in the instructions earlier when applying the pond water texture sheet, besides gluing around the edges, you also needed to use some glue under it in the centre. Because I didn’t, unfortunately the water texture can lift is someone tries to pick it up by the top platform making the feel unsecure. Oh well…these are the things we learn.
But all in all, it is coming along nicely and none of these issues have detracted from the overal appearance.
Today I will be figuring out the rock situation, attaching the bridge, lower level parts the wiring, trees and greenery, and it should…should be complete.
