Have you ever noticed that the easiest time to make a mistake is… right before you finish?
After spending hours building, it’s tempting to think: “Just a few more pieces and I’m done!” But I’ve learned that the final steps often need the most patience.
-The last stickers.
-The lighting.
-The tiny signs.
-The roof.
-Those final decorations that bring everything together.
I’ve had moments where everything was going perfectly… then I rushed the last few pieces because I was excited to see the finished build. Let’s just say I wished I’d slowed down!
Now I remind myself: The finish line isn’t a race. Taking an extra few minutes at the end helps me enjoy the process and avoid those “I wish I had checked that first” moments.
I’m curious… Have you ever made a mistake right at the end of a build? Or do you have a little habit that helps you stay patient until the very last piece?
@MamaNheza I try and slow down but you can be eager at times to complete your kit like you said … sometimes ive forgotten something but now I check the instructions and tick of what ive done !

Yes the end is where many mistakes can happen. Especially if you’re been working on a build for hours. This is a great lesson in slowing down and maybe even walking away to head off rushing and making mistakes. Thank you for sharing.
I think I’m actually the opposite The last part usually takes me the longest. Sometimes I even walk away and come back later with fresh eyes before making the final decision.
Exactly! That’s one of the best things about this hobby. There’s no rush. If I’m feeling tired, I’d much rather stop, come back with fresh eyes the next day, and enjoy the build instead of risking a mistake.
I have to remind myself of that too. There’s no prize for finishing first. I’d rather take my time and enjoy the last few steps than rush and end up fixing something later.
Thank you so much! I completely agree. After building for hours, it’s so easy to let excitement take over. Sometimes the best thing we can do is step away, rest, and come back with fresh eyes. It makes those final steps much more enjoyable too.
@MamaNheza , are you talking to me directly again? I wanted to complete the kit I was working on tonight, but I just decided not to since I’m afraid of breaking something. There’s this fragile piece sticking out and I almost broke it trying to attach something.
I think that’s a great approach! Walking away and coming back with fresh eyes is probably the best way to finish a build. Those last little details deserve just as much attention, and it’s always worth taking your time to get them just the way you want.
