[DIY & Creativity] Miniature pop up book

I recently went to Chicago to attend a couple of miniature shows. There were vendors there from 27 different countries. One booth, from China, caught my attention as I noticed miniature pop up books. Loving miniatures like I do, of course I couldn’t pass it up, so I bought a kit to make one.
Today I finally completed it. It’s really cute, but I have to admit that it didn’t give me near the excitement or satisfaction as a Rolife build. But I’ve been out of town for a couple of days and can’t work on a build, so I brought this pop up book kit with me.
Anyway, the kit came with a sheet of perforated pieces, double sided tape, double sided foam tape, two magnets, poster board pieces, the book cover, and the book for the book.
The directions were pretty easy to decipher. The pictures are small, but I could see enough to know what to do.

The first thing you do it fold the “book” After that,
there are four rooms to this pop up book. The instructions have you pop out the paper pieces for each room, prepare each piece by folding or using the foam or double sided tape.

When the pieces of a room are ready, you add them to the correct room where instructed.

When the rooms are complete, you prepare the cover of the book and add two magnets.

Once you fold the box for the book, you have the pop up book completed. When the book opens fully, he two magnets hold it open. When closed, the book fold up and fits inside the box.

It’s really cute and creative, and I’m glad I tried it…but I’ll stick to what I love best…building DIY miniature kits! Now I’m hoping to find a build that this miniature pop up book can go in!

Even if it didn’t quite give you the same thrill as a Rolife build, it’s still neat that you had something portable to work on while traveling.

This is extremely cute. I have seen some cute builds made of paper online but they don’t take my fancy. At least you can say that you’ve tried this.

Oh it’s so tiny! Good thing you tried it, even though it is not as satisfying as a Rolife kit. You did really well.

Tkaplan, what a fun little treasure from your Chicago trip! Hearing that the show had vendors from 27 countries makes this pop up book even cooler, and it is charming that you brought it along while you were out of town. We love seeing your miniature adventures, and even if it did not quite match a Rolife build, you clearly gave it a beautiful finish!
