I prefer the wood simply because it’s easier. I think it would drive me crazy if the edges weren’t exactly the same color as the original piece and colored pencils are just easier for me than paint.

Thank you! The colored pencil definitely made a huge difference with those lighter edges.
Sanding the little nubs and coloring the edges definitely take a lot more time but I think the end result was worth it.

I find colored pencils easier than paint so that’s what I used. I would love to see any builds that you painted the edges on.
